All terriers pretty much are active, some are downright ferentic in their levels of energy.Load on a dose of vermin hunting in the genepool background,as well as a playful streak gives you a bundle of hyper doggie!
I raised Yorkies for year's and they are no different.Territorial and headstrong, they have no fear, which make's training most Yorkies a real challenge also.
To tone down that playfulness and athletism, lot's of exercise and running help's a bunch. They crave a lot of attention from their owner's also.So give them as much time as you can,a good game of "fetch" with their favorite plastic squeek ball will wear them out quickly enough. They will be more open to training with the draining of that nervous energy.
Lavish on the praise when they are behaving and doing good thing's while training, they do thrive on this. You don't mention your terrier's age, they really do take year's to become model citizen's.I like the fiestiness myself, but i spend alot of time with my Yorkie's also. And they do mind, well most the time!

Jack Russell's (now called Parsons russell) are naturally very high energy dogs to begin with. So are most of the other terriers. The more exercise and training you can give him, the better. However, don't expect a change over-night and PLEASE don't give him nyquil like someone suggested(you can kill him). Good luck!!!

Jack russel terrier mixes are very hyper dogs. The only way I know of to settle them down is to take them outside and let them run and wear themselves out. Do NOT drug your dog. It is not good for them.
