my theory is that they are scared of driving.

At some point in their driving experience, someone has suggested they keep in the middle lane on a motorway so they avoid most of the big trucks and people can still overtake them.

we should make motorway driving part of the practical test but must only be taken with a licenced instructor to avoid people who are learning to drive with their best mate or parent getting on the motorway too early.

only last weekend myself and other drivers were forced to undertake a car on a dual carriageway because they were determined to do 50mph in the right lane, even though there was no traffic in the left lane and they were turning right at the next set of lights - 2 miles away.

get these scared drivers off our roads!

You should try a 2 lane motorway where they sit in the right lane and there is no car to overtake in the left. I beleive it's cause they are idiots.

I know what you mean, its lazy driving thats all, I dont think its too much of a problem on 3 lane highways if the right lane is clear but if its congested they are a pain in the *** and cause congestion. Undertaking tends to grind me more though I must admit!

. . Rule 268 of the united kingdom highway Code states that - "you will possibly desire to continuously force interior the left-hand lane while the line forward is obvious. while you're overtaking countless slower-shifting autos, you will possibly desire to return to the left-hand lane as quickly as you're wisely previous. sluggish-shifting or velocity-limited autos might desire to continuously proceed to be interior the left-hand lane of the carriageway till overtaking." So this purely an advisory rule, not a regulation. there is no real chargeable offence in hogging the middle lane. yet while site visitors law enforcement officials end which you're inflicting undue disruption to site visitors/different street customers via hogging the middle lane, they might pull you over and warning you. yet like quite a few regulations and regulations, there is often somebody someplace obtainable who purely has to interrupt one in each of them. So till each physique will become a solid regulation abiding citizen, i'm afraid we'd might desire to stay with center lane hoggers for a quick time longer.

If your proceeding at the National speed limit for the road your on then in theory no one should be able to overtake you therefore any lane will do.
There are more accidents caused on British roads by frustrated speed merchants tailgating drivers sitting in the middle lane. Theres far too much road rage on and off Britains roads.
The answer is to take a chill pill and dont let it get you down.
