Everytime I do try to go out with girl, It turns into a total nightmare. When I do get to know girls, I get the biggest fear of not being accepted. Last year I went out with a girl for about two weeks, which I doubt it even counts. During that time I ended up finding out that her cousin went off and told her whole family about my illness. Yes i told her cousin, big mistake huh. Well turns out that her Dad thinks I'm a psycho, and tries to convince the girl that I go out with to leave me. My fear is being accepted, which keeps me from going out with girls. So it really sucks cause now everytime I get a chance to go out with a girl, I end up withdrawing at the last minute. I need help if anybody can give me advise, and please don't say meds cause they don't work.

If my diagnoses is fake, explain to me why I hear voices when I'm in my room by myself. Why I hear voices at work, when I eat, shower, drive.

First off I work with people with moderate to sever schizophrenia and meds can help treat symptoms of the disease. Going on and off meds is bad, it causes relapses, and can cause your disease to progress. But if you can stabalize it, you can live and function normally for the most part. By normal I mean have relationships, hold down a job, even go to school.
You face certain obsticals which other people don't understand. But you can find ways to cope. As far as having a girlfriend, if your having anxiety then check into anti-anxiety medicine to, it can help. Also remember, your illness is your buisness and you don't have to disclose it to anyone. Unfortunately there is to much stigma over this illness, and I admit till I worked with people with this illness, I was scared of what I didn't know. But if you do decide to tell people, talk to them about it. Educate them on it, let them know that even tho you have this, your working to treat and control it, and most of all you just want to fit in just like anyone else.
Good luck with everything.

To be completely honest I think that if all this is happening you have to either find someone to talk to or write to yourself about every feeling you feel when you feel it. I know I get all messed up when I don't get to talk to my boyfriend for awhile but I write down all my thoughts and when I write I don't read anything or re-due anything and then read it all at the end even if its five pages long. Then I figure out how to answer them myself and get myself back in order. I know it might seem like a long process to you but in reality if you really think of all the time you spend think of these things and making those assumptions you could me canceling in them out and helping yourself get through them. Having a problem a lot of people have doesn't make you psycho it makes you a real person with problems just like anyone else and everyone else. I just think you need a girl who understands it and wants to be there to help heal not sit there and let they're family make things worse. I'll be praying for you. I hope this helps.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you...
You are young. Wait until you get to college. You'll find support groups and get in tight with a group of people who are more willing to understand that just because you have this, doesn't mean you are a freak.
Schizophrenia is one of the Only things I always suggest treatment for. You should be in some kind of organized care, with a routine and with someone to talk to and help you focus and stay grounded.
Don't let the bastards get to you sweetheart...
There is a whole community of people just like you who are made to feel the same way... But remember this. In the end, they only make you feel that way because you have allowed it.
Next time, be a little more picky with who you trust...

Try just making friends with people. That is usually the best for a romantical situation anyway. Just try to make friends with people first.
Also find support groups for people with your condition. Ask your doctor if he knows of such groups. This will give you an opportunity to talk with people who understand your situation.
Start doing volunteer work or do something like a hobby that you can focus on and detract from focusing so much on yourself.
Here are some suggestions from the web:
http://www.medindia.net/patients/patientinfo/support_groups/Schizophrenia_Support_Groups.asp
http://groups.msn.com/SchizophreniaSupportGroup
http://www.schizophrenia.com/
You can also search on the web yourself for a support group by entering "support group for shizophrenia" and listing your state.

My husbands best friend has schizophrenia, and complains of the exact same thing, what we have done to help him, is always going out on double dates, that way he isn't focused on so much and he really enjoys himself now.
I wish you well.
