If you put your dog on a leash or put up a fence, it will not run away.

Obedience training helps too.

Please do not get another dog unless you are prepared to do these things.

Welsh Corgis are very good, sweet dogs. They are loving and playful, since they are a herding dog, they do need to be walked, also be sure to give them plenty of exercise, they can easily become over weight. I hope you do decide to get one, it doesn't matter what breed you have, some dogs just tend to run off more than others. I have a Pomeranian who when she gets in the mood, decides to dash out the door when we open it and me or my husband are forced to run out after her barefoot sometimes. Good luck on picking your new dog!

Welsh Corgis are actually herding dogs so be aware that they can be quite active. Not so much a lap dog. They enjoy lots of attention however and not so much space. I haven't heard much about them being bolters but if they are not ignored, based upon their general tempremant, I'd say they are quite content to stay home.
