Remember the paper strips of candy dots in different pastel colours? The little wax bottles with different coloured syrup inside them? The Mary Janes? (Like nugat caramel) Or Smarties (columns of pill-like tart candies in pastel colours wrapped in cellophane tubes)? Tootsie rolls? Mint Juleps? Licorice wheels? Squirrels? (delicious nutty carmel oblongs) Red licorice strips? Caramel circles with white powder centers? Hersey's kisses? Raisinets? Good and Plentys? Lucky Charms? Snickers? Double Bubble gum? Popsicles? Creamsicles? Fudgicles? Milky Ways? Heath Bars?Charleston Chews? Peppermint candy canes? And we haven't even gotten to the Cadbury's yet - ! Best to you, always. Chris, in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am 63 years old, so I have an edge on this one.)

pear drops
nippits (tiny liquorice bits, hot as h.ll)
Fry's chocolate
dolly mixtures
pontefract cakes (liquorice circles)
jelly babies
lion nuts
liquorice root
sherbet dabs
sherbet fountains
aniseed balls

there were plenty more - but long forgotten over time..ah! those were the days.

Then there were ice-cream sodas, cones with ice-cream that came covered in waxed paper, also ice-cream slices with the ice-cream being individually wrapped. also the old-fashioned wafer hand crafter, or today I would view it as being sculpted - always an amazing sight for a child..when you are wishing the shopkeeper to make the ice-cream go higher.....I remember it well!!!!!

Double Dips, Caramac or the dreaded tooth-rotting Highland Toffee.

can still get a few of these sweets, my local shop sells Munchies and Mint Munchies, which I think is the new name for Mintola.

Cigarettes that you could eat, they came in a real packet and the chocolate was covered in white paper - they are probally banned now. I also used to love Wham bars, I think you can still buy them but they are no where near as big.
