Details:
I been to macau many times and have always book through holidayinn.com. You get a internet and early booking discount.
Its about 40-100USD a night depending on the time you go. Weekends and busy times are more expensive.
I have also try going straight to macau then head to a local travel agent and book through then for that night/weekend. They can get rooms thats not occupied for a very cheap price. I did this only 2 times as I did plan on going earlier. I pay about 400-500HKD per room.
I always stay at the holiday inn about 10 short blocks from Lisboa. At night, there is a great bar in back of the hotel where you can get/see a lot of action.

I have never been to Macao, but I have been traveling in China for a little over a year now and the best place to check is at elong.net. It has budget hotels and flights all over China.

I even have stayed a pair of circumstances on the Metropole in Macau. that's approximately 4 hundred HKD in keeping with evening. Very low priced. that's a quick journey to the border the place you could walk in the time of to Zhuhai, China. or you could bypass to the ferry port and take the ferry to Hong Kong.
