Is Pantene considered a cheap hair product? I keep hearing that cheap products are not as effective and that Pantene is actually bad for the hair, as it coats hair with silicon? What does silicon do to your hair?

Anyway, I want to make my dull hair shine again. I've been using head&shoulders now for a year, oblivious to the fact that it actually damages your hair.

So would Pantene be a good choice? If so, which product should i buy? (I hear Ice Shine is most suited for completing this task) I'm looking for one that will add shine. If not, which brand should I get?

PLEASE do not use Pantene! It is terrible for your hair--the shine it gives hair is really just a type of wax! There's this newer (to me) shampoo called In(fus)ium 23--the repair(ologie) line works fabulously. Garnier products are good, too.

Well ...Pantene IS probably one of the worst Shampoos for your hair ...Silicon coats your hair and keeps moisture from penetrating the strand ...making it dull ...You need o stop using products from the drugstore ...there are not regulated and they have nothing but a bunch of waxes and coating products (like silicon) ...their ph is also way too high and they strip moisture from your hair ...Salon products cost more ...but you use less of them ..therefore you are saving money in the longrun ...ask you stylist what you should use ...many salon chains have heir own generic products that are just as good as the others and more cost effective .....if you have dry ..dull hair you should use a shampoo like sleek looks from Matrix or something with a smoothing product in it and a good conditioner ...hope that helps ...:)

we both have the same problem when it comes to hair. my hair is straight and dull. i tried using pantene for a week and results went well but using it more than that actually made my hair so dry and brittle.
i suggest that you use 2 shampoos like i do. get a hot oil treatment twice a month (which will make your hair shine). you may use very mild shampoos so as not to strip off "natural oil" from the scalp.

What you've heard is correct. Pantene is a cheap brand. And so is SUAVE & FRUCTIS... something that someone here just suggested, i don't know why???. Cheaper brands have alot of wax in them, which does absolutely nothing considering you're trying to wash stuff like that OUT of your hair when you shampoo.
I use biolage normalizing shampoo & conditioner it's great for adding shine & making your hair VERY healthy.

i dont think any shampoo really adds shine, ive tried them all and my hair still stays dull. herbal essences makes my hair feel softer, though. the only thing that has really made my hair shine has been blowdrying it and using a straightening iron. after doing it for awhile my hair stays naturally shiny and less frizzy. hair serums help some too. im not a pro hair salonist though so i cant really say what would be best, this is just my own experience, sorry!

Pantene Pro-v is not good for your hair you can either use Frutis or Protein Shampoo. That's what I recomend, I'm sure it'll work, either that or Suave.
