Your brandy, cognac, and other liquer selections are really dependent on what type of bar you're opening. Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions.

Hope this helps!

Well first I will say that you need to get your 5 basic liquors/liqueurs... with these you can make most common drinks.
vodka, gin, rum, tequila, triple sec. Then you will need to get a variety of cordials and liqueurs (like your schnapps family, butter shots, midori... you know the sweet fruity things). After that work your way up by adding an upgrade for each of these liquors and liquors to the next best level and repeat.

If you are opening a bar, your liquor salesmen is also trained to answer all of these questions for you. He/She should be able to set you up with exactly what you will and won't need to run your new business.

But I have a question for you. If you are opening a bar, it would seem like you should have some experience behind or around it already. If that was the case, you should really have a good idea on your own about what kinds of liquors you will need. If you don't, you might want to rethink your new business venture.... you could be biting off way more than you can chew. It is not an easy business that's all fun and games like when you're at a bar. It should not be taken lightly.

STOCKING YOUR HOME BAR

Bar Accessories:

These are some of the basics you will need to mix and serve your drinks. You may find many other bar tools that you like and some of the ones in the list you won't use. That is what makes having your own bar fun, it reflects you and you tastes.

* Shot Glasses
* Cocktail Shaker
* Bar Caddy
* Bottle Openers
* Bar Mats
* Blenders
* Bottle Pourers
* Straws and Stirrers
* Margarita Glass Rimmer
* Glassware, Beer Mugs, Wine Glasses, Rocks Glasses
* Ultimate Home Bar Set up

Alcohol:

The brand names and types of alcohol that you use to stock your bar depend on your favorite brand and what type of drinks you like. So, if you like rum and cokes you will want to stock up on those two.

* Rum
* Vodka
* Gin
* Whiskey
* Bourbon
* Tequila
* Schnapps
* Triple sec
* Scotch
* Wine

There are many other types of liquor that you may choose to have depending on your personal preference.

Mixers:

Unless you are doing shots your mixed drinks will need to have a mixer, based on the drink this varies wildly. Below are some of the basics

* Cola
* Orange juice
* 7-up
* Tonic water
* Soda Water
* Ice Tea
* Cranberry juice
* Pineapple juice

First off, get the good stuff. It's worth it. Not only will your guests be impressed by the fact you sprang for the expensive stuff, the quality stuff treats your stomach and head much nicer. I suggest Stolichnaya vodka, plain and one fun flavor like peach. Also, Bombay gin, Myer's rum, Cuervo tequila, triple sec, dry vermouth, and Maker's Mark bourbon. Mixers to keep on hand-ginger ale, OJ, cranberry juice, sours mix. Lemons and limes, and olives for martinis. That covers most everyone's taste and you can mix and match all these in countless ways. Enjoy!!!

I love tequila so I will suggest a tequila list

Tesoro de don Felipe is a must
Don Julio is a very good 100% to have in any bar
Herradura is a good option for your house margaritas
Casa Noble is the ultra-premium all bars should have

Well I always LOVE to go to bars that have a variety of beers on tap.

You should have lots of good beers on tap, like Newcastle or Bass, Harpoon IPA, Stella, etc... the more the merrier. At least one cheap beer should be on tap, like Pabst Blue Ribbon. I know it sounds silly, but I love a bar with PBR on tap.

As many as you can afford to get and have room for. But then remember no matter what you think of someone will always try to order something that you dont have.
