Why dont the police arrest hockey players after they get down fighting? If any normal citizen would fight, they would be arrested for domestic violence and public disruption. In any other sport, players are ejected, fine, and suspened.

At least in my state, there is a general exception under the law for fights that occur as a part of a sporting event. If not, then boxing would be a crime ... football would be a crime ... any contact support could be a potential crime. I suppose it is because participation in the sport provides implicit approval of the incidental contacts between players. Since battery is generally the UNWANTED pushing or hitting of anther, by playing the sport one can infer that the contact between participants - even a fight - is not unwanted.

A normal hockey fight is an exemption most states, HOWEVER, if a fight is exceptionally brutal or beyond what is normally accepted as a part of the sport, then arrests are made.

This is great. Are you saying that all hockey players live together or are homosexual? You said domestic violence...Are all hockey players related? You are not that bright. Fighting is part of hockey. There are fines and penalties for breaking certain rules. Do you want people arrested for boxing, MMA, or wrestling?

I doubt any hockey player would want to pursue charges for assault. No victim, no crime. However, the most likely reason is that it is an accepted part of the sport. In other words, the same reason that boxers aren't arrested.

They do arrest them for fighting. It would be bad publicity to broadcast a hockey player removed in handcuffs.

If it weren't for the physicality of hockey, it would be about as fun to watch as ballet.
