Sounds like you might have a disc alignment issue which can cause the "cracking" or "popping" I have had this for around 20 years now. I would seriously suggest you visit either your local chiropractor for an adjustment to align your vertebrae before the condition worsens.
Some people do not like chiro's in which case an orthopedic doc might be the way to go.
This link might help you decide. Good luck.

It's probably nothing major. But stay away from Chiros. The myth that hey can actually move anything in your spine is just that. A myth. It takes large amounts of pressure to move a vertabrae. You want proof? Look on the web for a video of Scoliosis surgery. I've seen it done. Clamps and rods and LOTS of pressure. Chiros can help some pains, but it's really no different than a good physical therapist. Manipulate the spine? No way.

No, sounds like you're in for back troubles in the future. Maybe you need to build up more muscle in your back and try walking more, because it helps redistribute the gel between your spinal discs.
