I question this alot too. Although I am somewhat religious, I think the world would be a much better place without religions. Its just another way to divide us up into different groups. And religion is supposed to be a personal thing that brings hope and faith to its followers, but lately all it seems to be doing is bring seperation and ignorance between people. I noticed how people usually turn to their religion during hard times, so could it just be a security blanket we use to re-assure ourselves? This world was created without religion so it is an unnatural concept we discovered somewhere along the way. Im not totally against it or anything but Im questioning its purpose during these times....

According to some book called 'The God Gene', humans have some predetermined concept that there's something after death. I think a single male is an unnatural bi-product of a different age but enough brain-washing is done that it is still accepted as a whole.

I don't think it's unnatural to believe in God. People have the innate ability to sense the divine consciousness. But the corruption of mankinds connection to nature and the collective by protestant and catholic churches to control the populous is most unnatural.

There is evidence that the mind is "hard-wired" for some sort of mystical, myth-making process. It's a complex topic to discuss in just a few lines, so, I'll direct your attention to "Why God Won't Go Away," by Newberg and D'Aquila, who explore the neuro-biology of belief in a very thorough, yet lucid way.

How can you look at the world, with all it's different societies, each one having it's own religions & not see that there is a natural desire to look up to a higher being?

No, way back when religions were starting humans were (and still are) a curious kind. We have a need for our questions to be answered. How did we get here? Simple: God. (not that I believe that but you get my point I hope).

Yes, that is why people say not question god, because it is not unnatural.

No, I think it's a natural flaw of human nature - a side effect of our keen sense of other intelligent agents or entities in our environment.

Not at all. God created us all in his likeness. He loves ALL of us, not certain groups or individuals. It's very natural that everyone feels Him in their heart. Not everyone lets Him into it. But He is there waiting to come in.

It's quite natural, really - humans are very inclined to ascribe visible phenomena to unseen movers.
