If you act as your own General Contractor you can save between 15-25% on the cost of the construction of the house. We just moved into our house in Jan and I researched the requirements here in Ohio to do that and it wasn't worth my time and effort for the ~20% savings.
What saved us a fair amount of money was to find a General Contractor that would work with SIPS. We had the house under roof, weather tight in 3 days!
They bring in the crane after the basement is done and about 10 guys had the shell of the house done in the first day, windows and doors and most of the roof the second day and roof was finished the 3 day.
It saved us about 1 1/2 months of constructions time because the panels are built in a factory and shipped to the job site. No this is not a modular home. The panels are pre-insulated with window/door cut outs and interior walls done. You might want to see if anyone in you area does that.

it depends where you live & what quality you want.
in san jose, ca top quality construction will cost $300 to $400 per square foot. in eugene, or rental quality construction will cost under $100 a square foot. these costs are if you hire all the work out. you will save tons if you are able to do much of the work yourself.

that question is tooooo generic are you building a moderate house or a huge house, wat kind of heat, or will it be a tree fort, or a bill gates house,my anwser_________ anywere from 100 bucks to 1000000 bucks
