I've asked 3 of my college professors to write letters of recommendations for me for scholarship applications. I feel like I should write a thank you note or something, but I"ve never done this before. What's the standard procedure for such a thing?

I've never sent them, I've just said thank you in person...but a little note can't hurt, it's a sweet idea.

Everyone appreciates a thank-you note. It will show you are grateful for your professors taking the time to help you out, and the extra bit of courtesy will make you stick in their minds if you ever need to ask another favor. I would recommend writing the notes.

Absolutely. And if you do end up getting the scholarship, you could take them out for lunch to thank them. You never know when you'll need them again for another letter or for a job recommendation.

Hoping you get the scholarship! :)

Writing thank-you notes is a lost art these days, especially hand-written ones. Yes, go for it!

I don't know about standard procedure, but I think that would be a very thoughtful thing to do....

Definitely a thank you card. A little token gift would be great too. I have done little gift bags with chocolates, dog bones and treats for the dog lover, etc. They went out of there way for you and you want to show them how much you appreciated it.

Yes.
They didn't have to do it, yet they did.

We should always remember kindnesses bestowed upon us...and try to forget the hurt.

Call them, write to them or thank them in person. Good luck!

If you are not in a position to go in person why not call them over the phone and express your gratitude.
