Danny,
I am NOT a Baptist. Some of the Baptists believe that "Once saved always saved" is in effect for them. I can not understand how they can say this. It certainly is NOLT scriptural. It is a "fairy tale" that a number of them believe because that is what they are told and want to hear/believe. In the end, Judgment will come upon each of them who does not repent of their sins. I have an entire conversation with a Baptist in the newspaper that told me I was in error on this but he certainly didn't convince me or a number of others in our little town. Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend.
Thanks,
Eds

I'm sorry to hear such trash, I'll say the guy is playing church, and not saved. A saved person could not do these things, also, to be saved, you come to Christ with a repentive heart, it don't look like he did any repenting. Confessing his sins to an elder who can forgive him. I'll say this, I am an elder in the church, and I cannot forgive anyone of their sins. That's why we have an advocate with the Father. Jesus is that Advocate.
No this is not what the Baptist teach! This guy is not Baptist.
or any other thing that I know of. If he is, he has a delusion that he can do any thing he wants and just be forgiven. If he continues, God could take him out.

Quite honestly your friend is not saved.
Once saved, always saved is very true, BUT being saved is not a simple act of walking up to the alter and accepting Jesus Christ as your lord and savior.
If that were true, all would do the act (just in case).
Being saved is a total change of ones life. Once you have given yourself to God and accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior, you should be compelled to know more about what you have just done. You will want to read Gods word and you will feel compelled to follow and obey that very word.
Your friend seems to have heard the message that all is forgiven and then stopped listening to the rest of the story as Paul Harvey would put it.
It seems that there has been no change in the heart of the young man in question, and he is deluding himself into thinking he has found redemption. Yes, Christians will fail, sometimes miserably, but we know it right away and are compelled to change our behavior and ask God for courage and strength to give up the old ways.
And NO, baptists do not teach that all you gotta do is say it. Baptists teach that you gotta live it. Your friend forgot to listen during this part.

Except for the part about having an elder forgive him, you are totally correct.
This guy thinks he can "use" the blood of Jesus to "get away" with sinning over and over again, and it doesn't work that way. Unless he realizes his guilt and confesses (to God, no man can forgive him), and makes a sincere resolution to stop his sinning, he will pay for his sins, just as if he had never known Jesus.
No Baptists or any other Protestant church I know of teach the notion that since Jesus paid for thier sins, they can do whatever they like and still be "forgiven". As you say, how dare he say "I'm saved by the blood of my Lord Jesus Christ-to wash away my sins." He will be one of those to whom the Lord will say "I never knew you."

Well, I'm a baptist, and I can honestly say that from what you've told me, this guy is not saved. One a person born again, they are given a new heart with new desires, desires to do God's will and follow his commandments. Any one claiming to be a Christian and claiming to be saved and yet continues to live in such a lifestyle of sin are false converts. They think that saying a prayer and getting wet (ie. ceremonial baptism) is what saves them, but its not. Salvation happens when we repent of our sins ( that is to confess and forsake them) and put our faith and trust in Christ. That is when we are born again. I hope that has helped ya out. If you want more info you can go to http://www.wayofthemaster.com or http://www.livingwaters.com
Furthermore, I believe that it is once saived, always saved, and I believe this for a few reasons, but the main was is this; everyone one that I have known, including myself, who claims that they were once saved, or are currently saved but still live in a life of sin have the characteristics of a false convert, as pointed out in the parable of the sower and the seed. This guys seems to be a thorny ground hearer, who recieved the gospel seed, and it grew, but then the things of the world (sin) choked it out and killed it.

I don't think your friend is a true Christian, let alone Baptist or he would know what he's doing is sinful. He doesn't have to confess to an elder, as long as he's sincere and confesses his sins to Jesus, He will forgive him. That is the key word: sincere. I don't think your friend is. I think he thinks he can do whatever he wants. God will judge his sins, and I think he should talk with his pastor, its clear he has some issues regarding sex and he has already forsaken his purity. As Baptists, we are to keep our purity intact until our wedding night. Actually, all Christians are to do that.

Danny, surely you have sense enough to know he is not a typical baptist. If that is the kind of people you go to for an explanation of their religion, then I feel that you are not sincere in wanting to know their beliefs. Instead of asking someone like him, why not ask a baptist minister ? I'm sure he could give you a lot better insight as to what the beliefs of a baptist are.

he's not any different than people who're gay, etc. who declare they're Christian. Their carnal nature, the flesh, nevertheless controls them. there remains desire that they are going to see how sin remains sin... with outcomes. On those words, all of us are only as to blame in our very own sins that tempt us, notwithstanding if we've been Christians for some years. The regulation justifies no person, and people who stay by ability of it might desire to maintain it. God's grace and mercy isn't a license for us to proceed to sin. Love for God, His will and needs for us, and love for different persons, would desire to be the restraining element in our strikes. in basic terms God is familiar with the intents of our hearts, and is our righteous decide. hence we are instructed to no longer decide. So do we settle for this interior the church? No, we are recommended to tutor them the errors, to reprove and tutor them by God's printed judgements in His notice, with love and subject. The regulation serves to convict one in each of sin by ability of the Spirit. Repentance is the effect of the sorrow we've for the incorrect and harm we've carried out to a different, be it God or yet another person. It comes from the affection we've for them in our hearts. If the affection of the two God or others isn't glaring interior of them, after others and the church have additionally tried, we are to contemplate them as unsaved... with persisted desire that they are going to see their errors and repent. all and sundry has loose will and determination.
