i mean, there are a lot of christian groups that oppose and criticize each other (catholics, protestants, gnostics, witnesses, mormons...). Is their faith not able to keep them united? Or is it maybe that christians want salvation just to themselves and that is why they make groups to distinguish themselves from others and thus sharing their heaven with less people?
(that as well may explain many people coming here and saying: "i would love to see you rotting in hell while i am in heaven" (i have read things like that dozens of time from merciful christians)

The people who curse people to Hell, anyone to Hell, are NOT merciful Christians. Merciful Christians exist, but they tend to be the silent majority and not the wild eyed radicals so often gracing this website; yep, I judged them.

People are not all alike. Gathering together in groups is scriptural; gathering together in groups with a common mindset is human.

At one time there was basically one church. And absolute power corrupted it. Other churches broke off, not only offering different versions of worship, but forcing the original Church to make a lot of changes. Things have a way of working out.

religion is a tricky topic, Christianity split into different categories after Martin Luther influenced us that the Catholic ideas were flawed. However, religion is a personal choice just as philosophy is as well. No correct answer for this exists until we have scientific proof of a creator that all religions can agree upon.

I am LDS, Mormon... one thing I love about our church is the unity, organization, "chain of command" (In which Christ is the Head of the church) and the invitation for ALL to come unto Christ and be perfected in Him. We do not discriminate and we do not tell others "well, you are going to hell for that" ...as you pointed out so many lovely Christians like to tell that to others...I've heard so many times "well, sorry, but you are going to hell for your beliefs" from Christians... I trust that my Savior will be the judge and I try everyday to be better so that someday, I may hear the words "Well done thou good and faithful servant" from my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
