Two of the best-known treatments for acne include phototherapy and the Zen Med Derma Cleanse System.

Let's take a closer look at how both of these products treat acne.

Within the last year the FDA has approved a form of phototherapy (or acne light therapy) called ClearLight to help treat acne sufferers.

ClearLight is a particularly strong form of blue light that is administered to patients by way of fluorescent lighting or the use of special lasers.

Studies of this method have shown that when phototherapy is used twice a week, is able to reduce acne at the rate greater than 60 percent.

It is believed that the intensity of the blue light applied to the acne gets under the skin and works to kill the bacteria that cause acne.

Clinical trials have shown that the intensity of light must be in the area of 405- 425 nanometers and that after approximately a month of treatments most patients can expect to see a decrease of somewhere in the area of 60-70% of their acne flare ups.

The Zen Med Derma Cleanse System is acne treatment that comes in a three-step system, which includes capsules, gentle cleanser and gel.

It works to both rid patients of their current acne problems and prevent further ones.

What's so unique about this form of acne treatment is that it is made of all natural ingredients. The capsules are of a herbal quality and work to treat acne from where it originates, on the inside of the layers of skin.

This acne treatment has no known negative side effects.

As with a treatments, you need to speak with a medical doctor and get treatments with a doctors supervision.

Bath & Body Works carries a skin care line by Dermatologist Patricia Wexler. It is called Acnescription with acnostat. A 30 day supply costs $39.50. In trial studies it has proven better results than Pro Active. It also has anti aging qualities in it. The effects of the product last even after you stop using it unlike Pro Active.

Honestly, the best thing I know of is a product called clear.now
It's a three step program like proactiv but in works much, MUCH better. The medicinal ingredient is a smaller molecule so it gets into your pores better.
It doesn't require a prescription but it's not available in stores. You can buy it online at www.jewel.mychoices.biz

Ooooh I used to get that on my forehead...it was almost rashlike sometimes and NOTHING worked....until I found this stuff by clearasel. I think it's called Clearasel Ulta or Ultra. It's the one that says that it will work in three days or money back guarentee. The one with the cleansing pads. I never experienced such great results like that in my life. It actually worked in three days. I hope it works for you. ♥
