Absolutely not.
As long as there is a large range of items to match each budget, there's no reason not to put some fantasy gifts on your registry. In fact, if your friends decide to chip in on an item, you may very well get your TV!
Good luck.

Hehe, it is a little ridiculous for most people, but a group of guests could go in on it together, or if you have pretty wealthy relatives it might just be an option.
Wedding registries are no longer just for "basics" as most people already HAVE the basics. Especially if the couple is older and/or have lived alone or together for a number of years. (Why get another toaster when the one you have works fine?) Check out the links below for info on registries!

Why would it be ridiculous if that's what you want?
Several people could go in on that gift.
I knew one girl who signed only one registry. The store called her to have her come add more things as all her stuff had been bought. So she started adding things like TVs & the like & got those too!
I do suggest you put ALL priced gifts on your registry. You never know if some friend who's on a fixed income would like to share in your joy just a bit.
One of my most prized gifts was from one of my students. He'd saved his allowance to buy us a matching salt & pepper shaker set.

Yes it IS ridiculous, but I KNOW that is every grooms dream! I know my fiance would have done that had I allowed him to. I would suggest registering at a store that also sells big screen t.v.'s, some people may give you gift cards and then you can just put them towards the TV you want.

NOPE... hey i put a $100 toothbrush on mine. I believe that the registery is to be used like a wish list that both you and your spouse want. Also, if you have a few high ticket items, sometimes it encourages people to give a little more money hoping they they are helping you to achieve your wishes.

Its your registry, go for it. However, the chances of someone getting that for you is probally very slim. Who knows, maybe some family members will go in on it and get you one.

The wedding/bridal registry is for the basics for the kitchen and bedrooms, that are necessary to establish a household.
Things like linens, dishes, small appliances(kitchen), any flatware or silverware, cups/glasses, coffee cups, pots and pans, bath mats, small mats or area rugs, wall clock(or grandfather clock or mantle clock) Not for high dollar furniture/entertainment items.

IMO its a little greedy but like every thing it is all relative..if your family can suck up the cost then I suppose it would be acceptable....or you could ask for vouchers for best buy, cuirut city that sort of thing.......................
Saw a wedding program the other week where a soup ladle was $900.00 a bloody SPOON was NINE HUNDRED bucks..............................for that I would want some bloke to be there to heat and serve the damm soup lol lol...but that was one of their cheaper pressies................
