Catholic priests have the lowest incidence of child abuse among any clergy. It is an incidence of 2 to 3 percent as compared with Protestant clergy where the incidence is fifteen percent or higher. The Southern Baptist Church claims an incidence of over fifteen percent and has addressed this problem at, at least one convention and are one of the few Protestant ecclesiastical groups that even recognise the problem as most of the others hide their abusive clergy.
Recently the Church of God of Tennesee had one of their bishops arrested on multiple counts of child sexual abuse and immediatly all references to him was removed from their website.
At least the Catholic church is acknowledging their problem and doing something about it. It behooves one to keep in mind that when most of the abuse occurred in the Church it was decades ago when it was believed that one could be cured of child sexual abuse, only recently has the psychiatric community acknowledged that there is no cure and that a molester can not be rehabilitated. The Church had bad advice for decades from the psychiatric community and was simply trying to be charitable to all concerned and erred in their efforts.

The incidence of such homosexual crimes among priests is just about the same as among any other group of men you can name, including Protestant ministers and Jewish rabbis. The only thing that is greater where Catholic priests are involved is the amount of press coverage.

pure genious,did you think of this all by yourself? very few priests have commited this sin. pastors are guilty of it aswell,why are people so consumed with bringing down catholic priests,yes some have erred but so has other denominations,non religious etc.......the church is trying to rectify the situation.

It's such a pity this goes on... but I believe the CHURCH is in on it. The pope has tried to cover up these stories way before they became public. Quite disturbing, if you ask me.

I'd question any adult that voluntarily chooses celibacy for the rest of their lives. It's just not normal or healthy. I don't trust a single one of those people.
