I'd more prefer that nothing be in the way. Skin on skin contact is the best. It depends on the type of body they have how they feel to you.

have you ever touched your b/f's skin?! hugging him while he's half-naked feels like skin, just like you'd expect it to. Go hug him and see, it's not that big of a deal really... and be a little more adventurous if this is the best thing you can come up with involving skin touching...
