I'm considering buying one of these bikes and want to know which is the best deal. I'm just starting to mountain bike.

GF has the renowned Genesis Geometry... http://www.fisherbikes.com/utility/glossary.asp

Trek - well, they own Gary FIshe but, besides that... How many bike companies have been around for 30+ years..? How many of those have been ONLY family owned and operated companies...? Trek is taking GREAT strides to keep their title as the industry's leading bike company/manufacturer - the product speaks for themselves.

Giant... Giant is big because their main thing is that they own most of the factories in Asia... Simply put, they know how to make a great bike... when you tell them "HOW" to make it. These bikes do have a less expensive MSRP(Notice I did not say Cheaper - the bikes are still good!)but lack in refinement.

Bottom line - Do not buy the bike on Derraileur alone - ride the bikes and MAKE SURE it fits and feel good.

The sweetness of the cheaper price is very distant to the dis-satisfaction of the long term problem/failure.

I am actually making the same choice at this point, and choosing between the GF and the Trek.

I say it depends on how you plan to ride on the bike, what mix of trails, bike paths, commuting, etc.

Go and sit on each bike, and see how it feels. If you compare the specs between the Trek and the GF, all of the equipment is almost identical except for the front shock and the frame geometry.

I personally didnt like the position of the GF for the type of riding I do, but if you do lots of trails it might suit you better depending on your height and body type.

Go try them all out and go by feel.

Trek 4300 I have a Trek 3900 they are wonderful!
But they are all nice bikes so as the other person said above you may now just want to go with the best price or the best color. Best of luck! :)

Those are all VERY good bikes. At this point, if you can't decide by ride quality, you could safely by the one that has the lowest price.
