You never know absolutely sure. You just have to weigh the evidence. Luckily, you don't have to know anything absolutely in order to get through life. Sharing what you know with others can help you figure out what's true yourself.
I suppose you could just have "faith" that what you think is true is absolutely true. But that doesn't make it any more true. It just gives you a false sense of security and makes you less likely to explore further. Faith is the refuge of the incurious.

"how do you know when you have found the truth? "
you feel at peace.. that big question: "is there a god" isnt there anymore, because YOU feel you know the answer.... however.. there is NO absolute truth... we can all only go by what we believe to be true... if it be faith or atheism.
"Also what do you do when you find it? Keep it to yourself? Share it w/ others? Or simply point people down the path where you found the truth and just let them discover it for themselves?"
i try to share it... but i dont push it upon anyone...

When we seek God with open heart and in sincerity -----we will know the truth--HOW?-----glad you asked----you will know because you will have a peace about a truth whereas a lie will trouble you (not sit just right).
The bible says you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
--------don't put your light under a bushel--share it-----the light that shines from you might be the only light someone sees at all.you can help point some people down the path by letting your light shine through in how you treat others.
--------some you just gotta knock 'em down and beat it into them LOL----just kidding.
Try to find humor in daily life------
LAUGHTER is a great medicine.
Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.

When you have found the religion that agrees with Eph. 4:5 "One Lord, one faith." The religion that does not agree with the modern view that there are many acceptable ways to worship God. Jesus stated : "Narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading of into life, and few are the ones finding it....Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will." Matt. 7:13,14,21; see also 1Corth.1:10
When you find the religion that base all of their beliefs, their standards for conduct, and organizational procedures on the Bible, their faith in the Bible itself as God's Word gives them the conviction that what they have is indeed the truth.
Once you have found the truth there is no way you will be able to contain your self you will want to tell everyone that you know and even the ones that you don't know.
Zeph 1:14 "The Great Day Of Jehovah Is Near.

There is no truth, that's just an illusion. Truth is doctrine, it's dogma, with Truth you can stop seeking. When you stop seeking and just accept that you've found The Truth, you no longer grow. You no longer explore. You follow. You obey. You put yourself into a box created either out of your own ideas or the ideas of another. True spirituality is a never ending process (as tiring as that is), which is more like finding better questions. Thinking about the questions makes for better growth than endlessly repeating something you were told (second-hand). The truth is a lie, a dark con, and has no worth to a real thinking man.

When you say the "Truth" what do you mean?
If you mean by a Church. I can't tell you how often I heard "the Truth" being addressed to a Church.
The Truth is in the Bible. Jesus is the Truth.
Jesus is the Foundation, not the Church the Building.
If any man builds a different foundation. It is a lie!
So if you church is building on Jesus, it has truth in it. but any form a lie, even a little, makes it a lie and confusion.
Follow the bible, believe the bible and becareful of "over convinced Churches claiming to 100% Truth.

Jesus claimed to be the embodiment of truth. The Bible claims to be truth. It is God's truth which sets us free. Examine the evidence. Fulfillment of prophecy, accuracy of the condition of mankind, internal consistency, literary genre, manuscript evidence, archaeological evidence. The written truth leads us to the living truth. Our job is to apply the truth that God has already revealed.
