I am on a limited income. Top Ramen is cheap. I like Pasta Roni and you can add a can of mushrooms or some vegetables. Spaghetti, frozen burritos, frozen french fries or tater tots...

Pasta, rice and beans- they go a long way with just a bit of imagination and very little money. Add canned tomatoes and garlic, or pasta sauce, and you're eating italian. Add curry powder and yogurt to rice, and you're eating Indian. Add some seasoning, and you have Mexican flavor. Pasta, rice and beans are really cheap, and you only need couple extra bucks to turn them into a meal.
Also, yogurt is good because it's cheap but healthy, and you need the calcium and the protein, limited income or not.
When it comes to fruits and veggies, just buy whatever is on sale- coupons can save you a lot of money.
Same thing when it comes to meat- you can get 2 for 1 deals (mostly chicken and ground beef) that is about to expire in a few days, so just brown it, and freeze it cooked. You just need to thaw it when you're ready to use them.
Spam, Ramen, Rice Roni and junk like that aren't actually cheap- they are not filling at all, they cost more per meal than cooked rice and chicken meal, and they are not healthy.

The sad thing about inexpensive foods like spam and mac and cheese is that they are not good for you--very unhealthy stuff. Try making fresh pasta and tossing with fresh vegetables for an inexpensive yet healthy meal. Look for sales, compare prices and cut coupons. Another idea is to buy things in bulk like hamburger meat and using it for several different meals like goulash, spaghetti and sloppy joes.

Take it from the expert. You get some hash in the can (meat and potatoes, not the other type of hash). Those 1 quid cans of sausage and beans work good too. You then get big bags of beans and rice. Then you find a good farm nearby and raid the wheat and turnips. Just don't let the farmers catch you. If you have a mortar and pestle, you can make flour out of the wheat.

bread, lunch meat, penut butter and jelly, tuna. For meat chicken and ham steaks are pretty cheap. Chicken you can do a lot w/. Try to stay away from canned veggies for they are not healthy, however store bought frozen veggies r usually cheap. yogart, noodles and sauce and cereal. I dont recommend quick cook out of box meals (ie- frozen dinners and hamburger/tuna helper) for they are unhealthy and you can often make similar items cheaper. Apple juice and you can make home made ice tea. Many grocery stores will double coupons under $1. Often I check circulars for all the sales and travel to 2-3 dif grocery stores that week stocking up on sale items. oh and ramen noodles you can't beat in price, and there are even several recipes that you can incorporate w/ ramen. (my fav is getto soup: ramen mixed w/ pieces for baked chicken.) Also, there r tons of recipes online that u can use to eat cheap, healthy meals.

I would just cut out meat and have a vegetarian fare with lots of legumes (beans) and vegetables and fruit. You can make a lot of things at home like soups and save a lot on groceries. I would shop at Walmart because it is the cheapest. I would also see if I could be eligible for local food pantries run by churches and charitable organizations.

Red beans and rice is a protein & carb rich meal that costs next to nothing. Peanut butter is also a relatively low cost, massive protein source.

Right now, I'm just trying to determine how I'm going to collect water and food in the wilderness because my Disability income has been cut off because of corruption in Canada! Over the years, I have earned a BBA degree, have years of experience in accounting, have written music, have various hobbies like vitamintology and herbology, enjoy home cooking, have past experience in body building, have theories on Tesla Coils and the UV spectrum, make wonderful wine and beer, and the list goes on... However, that does not count or matter when you run into the wrong people above the law who commit acts like computer hacking and jerk you around with their power and authority!

I think the best way to go is to buy in bulk so it will last longer, go to meat market to get meat packages, or catch sales where you can get 10 items for $10.00 and so on
