Hi. I was wondering if it would be illegal to go out with a teacher if they're not your actual proper teacher. He is 26 and I'm 17 in May and I doubt he has any idea how I feel about him. We just get on so well and he shares my love of travel and learning of other cultures, which NO other guy has before. He teaches us only once a week and the class is meant to be more fun than serious learning (although we do learn things of course). I am at sixth form college. He actually finishes teaching us in May so would it be illegal if it happened after he finished? Also please don't reply saying 'find a boy your own age' because the only ones I get on with have serious girlfriends. I just get on with adults much better than my peers. Anyway thanks for any replies in advance (and sorry for the length and if this didn't make much sense).

Are you in the UK? In the States it is a definite No-No to date a student, even if they are not in that teacher's class, under the age of 18. I'm not sure abour the laws of your area.

Heavens, lots of people have age differences. A woman at work married a guy 17 years her junior, about 11 years ago, they are still married.

If you care for him a whole lot, don't get him or you into trouble. Bless you.

I think the answer to your question lies in a comment you made about yourself - you only get on with guys you have serious girlfriends. How much do you want to bet that this guy has one too? You may think you are mature in your tastes which implies you have higher standards than your peers. You're deluding yourself - only going for the difficult guys with girlfriends and entanglements and prohibitions means the thought of being with someone who is actually appropriate and capable of loving you freely scares the life out of you! This is the kind of problem people see a therapist about. See one. It will help and make your life better.

I would not recommend getting involved with a teacher. It could only tun into trouble.Don't be in such a rush to get a boyfriend. If he is to easy to catch that could be a red flag. Also you are underage. How would your parents feel about this?
