they have been at each others throats for thousands of years, what makes us think they're gonna stop now? just cuz we don't want terrorism? these people are figting for religion. never get between extremists and their religion, they'll just blow themselves up and take you with them.

Well, the situation is really more complicated than that. The Muslims are killing the Jews for control over the Holy Land, which was promised to the Jews by G*d. We are fighting to hold onto our land (which, in reality, is smaller than what we have now. If you read Genesis, we should have a larger portion of the Middle East). While they kidnap Israeli soldiers and use them as tools to be bartered for, we give up more and more of Israeli land to try to appease the Arabs to stop the violence. Mostly, there is no real modern conflict that we are fighting over. It all dates back to biblical times and thousand-year-old rivalries. I could go in more depth, but to give a bleak, straight-forward answer, there is it.

first, I just want to establish that I DO NOT THINK WE HAVE ANY BUSINESS BEING IN IRAQ. But I don't think it's ever okay to just sit back and watch people kill each other either. Can we stop them? Probably not. Should we just sit back and say "Not our problem?" I don't think so. But sadly, the only reason we're there is oil. Or we wouldn't be there at all. It has nothing to do with terrorism. This why we don't step in other places. (Darfur comes to mind).

WRONG!
They have only been at odds with Israel for 60 years. Before that the Muslims were killing Christians. Radical Muslims will kill anyone that isn't Muslim and even many who are Muslim.
Face it, Islam is a waring race of people who know and love killing people.
The Israel thing started in 1948 when the Arabs kicked out the palestinians and forced them to live in Israel and they have been trying to steal Israeli land ever sense.

Guess it depends on whether or not you believe in God and the Bible. If you do, then you know from reading the Bible that we are expected to support God's chosen people. If you do not believe in the Bible, then go with whatever liberal you want. That's what America is all about: freedom to choose. For myself, I have always supported the Hebrew people and had many good Jewish friends over the years. They are a good people, worthy of our support.

Why don't you understand the difference between agression and defense? Arabs are offensive and Israeli's are defensive. The simple answer is that the arabss stop fighting, bombing etc. there will be peace, if the Israeli's stop defending themselves there will be no Israeli's. Can you grasp this concept? To paraphrase Golda Meir. When the arabs love their children more than they hate Jews there will be peace.

Thanks for the advice Ace ! We are trying to stop Muslims from killing everybody. These religious extremists kill for the sake of killing. Hell, the insurgents from Iran, in Iraq are now killing Sunnis who aren't supporting their efforts.
Traditionally, the insurgents from Iran, work with the Sunni's to kill Shiite and Americans. In turn the Shiite militias are killing Sunnis thus provoking a civil war, which is the objective of the insurgents from Iran.
It seems, the Sunnis are becoming weary of all the killing and would just like it to stop. The insurgents from Iran won't tolerate this mind set, so they are now killing their partners in crime. This thing is becoming a classsic circle jerk !

The reason why is because , even if we dont like it, the Israeli's are the only reason that the Middle East has not regressed to total anarchy. They are also a Democracy, like us, and should be supported simply because of that. They are also an excellent ally and source of intellegence, not to mention they are willing to do, militarily, lots of things our PC appeasing Liberal led government won't allow.
