Don't color your hair black. Black hair dye tends to look fake, and most people can tell the difference between a person with natural black hair and hair that has been colored that way. There is a good chance that it will clash with your skin as well. People only associate black with looking bad on those with very light skin, but that isn't so. A girl I work with has darker skin, dyed her hair black, and it looked horrible. Very few people that don't have the color naturally can pull it off. If you want to go dark, I would recommend a dark chocolate brown instead. I think it would look better and it's a heck of alot easier to remove if don't like it.

okay i've been a hairdresser for 2 years now and yea you can dye it a very dark black but it might be too dark for your skin tone. i would still do black but not such a dark shade of it. do a med. or light black and then add subtle highlights to compliment your skin tone and eyes. like a very dark brown or a brownish red. another dye job that would look good is dye your hair a dark dark brown and then put strands of black and blonde and red in it. i did that before i became a red head and it looked great. i would use Clariol Feria. it is permenant but it is still sensitive to your head and hair. it also is the best hair dye that comes the closest to what it looks like on the box no matter what your hair color right now. good luck!

Ooh, black does sound good. It gives girls, and guys, a kind of mystical, dark look. I think it would go good with your coloring as well =).

As for harming your hair...well, coloring isn't going to make your hair healthy, but it's not going to make it fall out either, heh. Bleaching is really bad for your hair, as it strips the strands of their color, causing that rough, brittle texture. Bleaching would be anything that makes your hair lighter. Since you want to go darker, you're going to dye your hair, which isn't Nearly as bad. You're not stripping your own color, just adding to it. But, of course, more permanent colorings are worse on your hair than temporaries. (Not only that, with permanent color you'll get roots...which you may already know =P). I'll admit though, temps. are a pain in the bum. I tried temporarily dying my hair black last Halloween and it hardly did anything to my hair (even though I have medium brown). I think it was Loreal Paris; the box had a little female kind of doodle on the cover.

Either bleaching or dying your hair can also look unnatural. This unnatural look is caused by the product only using one color to bleach or dye your hair. This looks fake because, as you know, hair has many different colors: maybe mostly brown, but there could be a few strands of blonde, red, or black in there as well. There is a product, I wanted to try it myself as well, that includes the main color and I think it has other colors along with it. It's not really chunking but something kind of similar. Maybe highlighting...Although, I think chunking or highlighting would look more natural than just dying your hair with one color. I'm not sure what the product's called, but I'm going to submit this then go look in the Walgreen's ad =P

Aha! This is it - L'Oreal Couleur Experte Expert Multi-Tonal Color System. There are two steps to it. First the "all-over" color, and second the highlights. I googled loreal hair color and found it here http://www.perfumebay.com/071249200704.html?synertech; although they do sell this in stores, as I've seen it. This site also shows a chestnut color. I'm sure they have a black or really dark brown color as well. Hope this helps =D

It will probably look really good. I DO NOT recommend going lighter. Lightening is sooo damaging and is expensive to keep up. The good thing about darkening is that it is less damaging, and will fade over time so your roots will be less obvious. Also the upkeep is easier. Use any shampoo that is color-safe, make sure it is for dark colors. Your other products should be fine.

Use L'Oreal. Don't buy the "very black" because it will come out so dark that your hair will look fake. Try soft black.

Well..I think you should go for it. You never know if you like something if you dont give it a try. And dont worry about damaging. Only Blonde Damages because of the bleach in it...and if i were you i would go to sallys beauty supply and get dye..I wouldnt use box dye!!
