I've had a thing for my best guy friend for a long time. I told him a few years ago, and he said he didn't like me that way. It was a little awkward for a while, but now it's all back to normal (except for me still being practically in love with him). He tells me in hot/pretty all the time, but I'm not sure he really means it. Would he tell me that just to make me feel better (even though i don't ask about how he thinks I look.) If he's telling the truth, why doesn't he want to go out with me, then? Thanks!

Well you said you told him how you felt a few years ago, correct? That's a long time, and his thoughts of you could have changed completely.
The worst thing that could happen is you two would no longer be friends, but you also said that you told him how you felt and everything is ok now. I sense the bond between you two is too tight to be broken. I'm sure if you two did date, you'd go back to being good friends.
Personally I don't see why he wouldn't want to, if it's no other reason than ruining the bond between the both of you.
If I were in your situation, I would tell this person how I felt one more time, and if this person responded the same way, just let it be at that, and continue being friends.

He might think you are hot, but thats it.....i mean one of my friends is freakin hot...but i wouldnt go out with her....he might not want to jeopardize the friendship you guys have.....guys wont say a girl is hot if she isnt

He probablye doesn't want to go out with you because he sees you as a sister. He probably means it when he says you're pretty/hott, but he just doesn't see himself 'with you'.
