Did God create everything that exists? Does evil exist? Did God create
evil?
A University professor at a well known institution of higher learning
challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything
that exists?"
A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"
"God created everything?" The professor asked.
"Yes sir, he certainly did," the student replied.
The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God created
evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principal that our
works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."
The student became quiet and did not respond to the professor's
hypothetical definition.. The professor, quite pleased with himself,
boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian
faith was a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said, "May I ask you a question,
professor?"
"Of course", replied the professor.
The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"
"What kind of questio

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never
been
cold?"
The other students snickered at the young man's question. The young man
replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of
physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat.
Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits
energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit
energy.
Absolute zero (-460 F) is the total absence of heat; and all matter
becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does
not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have
no heat."
The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"
The professor responded, "Of course it does."
The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not
exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can
study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break
white light into many colors and

study the various wavelengths of each
color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break
into
a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a
certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this
correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when
there is no light present."
Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"
Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already
said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's
inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence
everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but
evil.
To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it
does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is
just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe
the
absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what

when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's
like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that
comes when there is no light."
The professor sat down.
The young man's name -- Albert Einstein
A true story.

Ahahahaha that part is funny. His claims were leading to that, that which is completely unfounded. That is his opinion, I however have a different opinion.

Interesting question, but of all the descriptions I have heard of Einstein, he was not that good at school. Nor was he that philosophical.
Also, you could replace "God", with "good" in your answer, as in "evil is just the absence of good" and still seem rational.
An interesting story, but probably just an urban myth, with a well known person as the introduced impact character.

It costs the comparable to maintain an ex-president no count which social gathering he's from. So in terms of value that is going to be the comparable value, the comparable secret provider risk-free practices, and so on. yet Democratic presidents oftentimes do public provider while they retire. Jimmy Carter traveled international as a goodwill ambassador. He monitored elections, he negotiated agreements, he wrote books, he volunteered to construct residences for human beings, and so on. and so on. GHW Bush, OTOH, could not wait to connect an previous-boy-community retaining corporation, The Carlysle team, and peddle his impression. bill Clinton has achieved public provider too, and probable will as long as he can flow. are you able to work out GW Bush doing public provider after -he- retires? I helpful won't be able to.

While this is a good story and Einstein was indeed brilliant, there are flaws to this argument.
While cold may not exist, the effects of cold do exist and are manifest in thought and behavior. Therefore evil acts can exist and if God created everything then he also created evil acts.
Also, can we not say that love is the absence of evil and it is evil that actually exists.
The problem at the heart of the argument is that we have to assume that God actually exists and is love. Two things totally unprovable.
Evil acts surround us everyday.
So, while a clever rebuttal, an invalid argument.

Heck no. First of all, it reads like a narrative and not like a report of an actual event. And any decently smart person, like a professor, would have seen where "Einstein" was going with his line of questioning before he got to the third question. This is a chain email that has been going around for a while.

Whether this can be attributed to Einstein or not, it is still quite clever. It reiterates the concept that sin is more than just an act of evil or disobedience, it is any deed that fails to glorify God.

Evil is created by man, not in the absence of God. Many people say to be doing good in God's name, but in turn they were doing evil, in our perspective. It is only ones perception of our world.

Myths abound regarding Einstein. There is even one that he didn't complete High School. Probably spread by drop-outs.
Einstein did not believe in a personal God.
I'd put this one down to Christian propaganda.
Below is a link proving that the story is garbage:

I'd like to see some kind of reference to this because I don't believe for a minute that story is true.
Putting "True Story" at the end of a story doesn't necessarily make it so.
