I have a divorce lawyer in Turkey. I am unfortunately unable to contact him. My lawyer won't answer my questions and they are extremely critical ones. He doesn't want to delay the divorce hearing because it will inconvenience my husband's witness. He invited my husband to call him if he had any questions. He threatened to not appear at the hearing saying that i had to pay half the fee immediately which was a reversal of what he originally said and this happened only 2 weeks before the hearing !!! Seems like my husband has paid him off.

I know that my lawyer invited my husband to call him and gave his number to me to pass along to my husband because that was just before the first hearing and the lawyer was still talking to me. Don't know if this has any bearing but the lawyer is in Turkey and I am in Canada and maybe they make secret deals under the table there a lot more than here. Makes me nervous.

Today the lawyer said he didn't receive themoney sent thru western union a week ago. I sent many emails and sms's saying it was sent with no response. So is he pretending not to have received money so he'll have an excuse not to attend the hearing and act on my behalf ? really thinking he was paid off at this point. Now have to figure out how to contact court and judge cuz i can't get to Turkey in time.

It sounds to me like this lawyer doesn't have your best interest at heart, continue to call and call until he speaks with you. How do you know he invited your husband to call with questions if he doesn't return your calls? You may need to get your hearing delayed but in the meant time I would look for another attorney.

get an american lawyer who has Turkish contacts or call the American diplomat in Turkey to see if they can give you the name of a legitimate lawyer or at least some one who can check your lawyer out.

do not flow to the crooks attorney. he will in basic terms make your problems worse. attitude the "criminal" and tell him you have employed a criminal team it fairly is waiting to modern this extortion case to a District lawyer. convince him that there is an air tight criminal case against him.Threaten him with prosecution for extortion via extorting him for despite you prefer. that could be a opposite shakedown. you will possibly desire to have a solid poker face although.

You should get a second opinion about your pending divorce from another lawyer. cause this one sounds like he is in it with your husband and that means you will get screwed if you continue too use him.
