I've been having some problems with the way I look and it has caused me to have low self esteem. I've never really had a problem with the way I looked but I used this acne medication from the dermatologist and it burned my skin and it makes me very self conscious. People always tell me that I'm pretty but it doesn't seem to help. From me being so self conscious it holds me back and it's hard for me to feel comfortable around a male even though he seems so into me.

Unfortunately looks do matter, but for me it is all about grooming. If you are sloppy, dirty, unkempt, pick your nose, scratch yourself - go take a flying leap. I'd probably barf in your presence.
However, if you are clean, neat, dressed relatively well, hair clean and shiney, fresh breath and not too terribly overweight, and you have a good personality and verbal barbs just roll off you. Yeah, then you are atractive.
TV and Movies are giving the general public the wrong idea on what is attractive. Be fresh, clean and sweet and I will class you as attractive. Bless you, sweety!

my friends and family say i look pretty everyday and sometimes i feel like i dont but every time they tell me im pretty i remember that they must be right. to get back your self esteem start from the beginning and work your way up like doing what you like to do the most and then talk to a guy

I'm not at all conceited, but people tell me I'm pretty every single day and I DON'T SEE IT! girl, there is something they see in you to tell you and that is a confidence booster right there. Even though you might not feel like your "A" day, doesn't mean non one else isn't interested. Keep your head up and smile. I have struggled with acne and people tell me they don't see it cause they get lost in my light brown eyes! makes you feel good.

no not really i'm more of a personality girl my guy has to be easy going and make me laugh, but looks do help. but the personality is the best part of the person

the truth is looks does matter.i'm like you i'm very self conscious.i always make sure that before i leave my house i look good.and it gets a little annoying.but you need to trust your self.people tell you that your pretty and they are telling you the truth.so please don't stress yourself out over this matter you'll over come it.like i did.

anyone that says looks do not matter is lying. this is because it is human nature to be interested in someone that is appealing. if one doesnt look appealing they may not be interested in them. i wouldnt worry tho because if someone gets to know you and likes your personality it doesnt matter wat you look like.
i am sure you are pretty, everyone is pretty in their own way.
