Why do most Christians insist on celebrating pagan holidays like x-mas and easter, but reject The 7 Holy Days God Gave us? please do not Give me that Baloney about the Old Testament bieng done away with, the only things Jesus ended with his death was the need for animal sacrifices, and the need to ask a preist to go to God and beg him to forgive us for our sins. So all the rest of the laws still apply. even the dietairy laws. SO how many read everything i wrote?

Ok Christmas is not a pagan holiday. We as Christians took that day(December 25th) to honor Christ's birth because the exact date isn't known. Easter duh, is also not a pagan holiday. Easter was the day of Jesus' ressurection and coming back to us. and by the way its not 7 holy days, there is 1 holy day out of the week and that is Sunday, the day that God rested after he was satisfied with his creation. People indeed do honor this by going to church so I don't know what you mean by this. Jesus didn't just end the need for animal sacrifice with his death, I think your missing a few things he gave us a pathway to God through that powerful network called Prayer. I read everything you wrote and thought that A. You didn't have half the facts that you think you had B. some of them you've been misinformed on and C. I'll pray for you tonight.
Anymore questions I can answer for you?

The holidays, or "Holy-days" are celebrated to commemorate events within the Christian calendar. Jesus' birth (Christmas), Jesus' death and resurrection (Easter) are the only two Bible based holidays that I know of celebrated in the Christian churches.

We also have religious based holidays such as "Thanks Giving" and "Halloween" that were celebrated to give thanks to God and to counter pagan rituals celebrated at certain times of the year.

Things such as "4th of July" and "President's Day" are not holidays in the strict religious definition. They just give banks and government offices a day off.

As for the laws still being enforce. Well, I do know that those laws that Moses and his staff gave Israel were there as much for health reasons as they were for spiritual/religious reasons.

I read it all.

I don't believe a priest is needed. Secondly, Christmas and Easter are celebrated because they signify something very important to someone who celebrates Christ. That of his birth(even though the timing is off on his birth it - wasn't Dec. 25th) Secondly, Easter is the celebration of his rising from the dead after the 3rd day and ascending into heaven.

I do agree there are conflicts in the Old Testament. I mean we don't exactly "stone" people these days do we? Everything is up to interpretation.

Just let Christians do their thing - and you can do yours!

Back in the day religious leaders thought it would be a good idea to have christian holidays at the same time as thepagan ones, not only to overshadow them back to draw in converts by incorperating some pagan elements to make them feel more comfortable w/ it (ex. easter eggs, easter rabbit, christmas tree, mistletoe, and so on. all are pagan elements)

the classic trip of Ostara celebrated the goddess of a similar call. It became a trip of fertility. Rabbits reproduce, nicely, like rabbits, so they're an emblem of fertility. Eggs symbolize rebirth and new existence. toddler animals symbolize a similar concern, as does the actuality that the trip happens in the process the mating season for many animals. the classic pagans ought to no longer so certainly permit pass of their trip trips, so while the Christians got here to stress all and sundry into their very very own faith, they stole and converted the trip to declare, "whats up, look! we've a trip on a similar time as you! rejoice our trip instead because of the fact that is cooler and could save you on account which you would be worshiping the splendid god." They converted the belief of fertility and new start into resurrection as a different technique of coming up new existence. They saved the call to help the pagans have confidence that the trip trips have been one interior a similar. Why do they proceed to rejoice Easter? i think because of the fact that is substitute into custom. maximum folk have given thank you to commercialism and rejoice the trip as no longer something better than an afternoon of exciting. people who rejoice it as a non secular trip do no longer likely think of on the subject of the pagan element of the trip. They pass to church and in basic terms participate interior the pagan areas as a source of exciting for their childrens. some Christians attempt to eliminate the pagan aspects of the trip. Others have given up the trip thoroughly because of the fact they comprehend that the classic paganism can't be got rid of. As a Pagan, i think of that they'd rejoice or no longer as they %. enable them to have their exciting, or scorn it, as they deem greater healthful. Venus Bless

i read it all (over here)

we DO still should observe those holy days that dont conflict with the concept of jesus being the messiah.

as for celebrating christmas or easter, those are not pagan holidays. they may be celebrated on days that USED to be solely pagan holidays, but the Church chose those dates as a way of supplanting/replacing those false holidays with true holy celebrations.

as for your dietary restrictions comment, peter received special revelation from God that ALL foods are now clean.

You are entirely wrong. Christians don't insist on celebrating pagan holidays. Christmas is a celebration of Jesus' birth and Easter is a remembrance of his death. No more no less.

I read it all. It doesn't make me feel any better about you. Its really sad that American christianity seems to cling to the worst part of our puritan past. Life should not be so grim and fearful.
