I believe, and the Church teaches, that capitol punishment should only be applied in extremely rare and extreme cases and even then if there could be no possible question of innocence or guilt. Essentially this is an anti-death penalty stance.

In the Leviticus laws you will find that most crimes were answered with the death penalty. When Jesus came he said he did not come to absolve the law but to fulfill it. It is also mentioned several other times so it is safe to say that the Bible favors the death penalty for the guilty.
Leviticus 20:13
" 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Leviticus 24:17
" 'If anyone takes the life of a human being, he must be put to death.
These are just two examples for you to show you the wide range of uses of the death penalty. I think it enough to answer your question and I can provide more if you like. Feel free email me.

The Biblical view is that murderers should be put to death. This principle was established at the time of Noah in Genesis 9:6 when God said to Noah, " whoso sheds man's blood by man shall his blood be shed". In the mosaic law that came 1000 years later capital punishment was given for a number of crimes and included murder. The principle was given by God to man as an everlasting covenant..

generally, Christians are against it as well, we have to use wisdom. we can plea the seventh commandment, but I'd rather just use wisdom.
with capitol punishment, innocent people can potentially die if the law makes a mistake, and that's not a very good chance to take. so jail, which you can say sorry and make-it-all-good for, is a better option.

Love capital punishment, and so does God. Punishment is not killing. Read the book of numbers, and you will find God is very much for executing murderers. Cleanses the land even. Why people want to pay to keep murdering trash alive is beyond me. All true christans are for it.

Young lady,
I am a Christian and so far all I have seen are Old Testament scriptural references. We are to follow the New Testament as Christians. I believe that we are told to follow the laws of our Government as long as they do not go against our Christian Duties to our FATHER. Murder is a willful act. The Punishment of Capuital Punishment is given out to a first degree murderer for his/her wilful act of killing another person in the hope that it will keep others from doing the same and cut the expenses of the taxpayer. That person has a number of ways to get out of the death penalty by lawful means. He/she only needs to apply each and every one of those and keep from being killed for many years of court appeals. GOD will judge him/her for the acts they have committed as surely as HE will each of us. That is about all that I find on Capital Punishment in the New Testament. Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend.
Thanks,
Eds, Non-Denominational Christian

All thought the Bible it talks about killing people Their favorite method of execution seemed to be stoning. That seems pretty good to me. They should bring stoning back. Rapist, child molesters, and murderers should receive an appropriate execution. Lethal injection is not punishment it is salvation. Stoning that would be nice then every one including the victims family could be involved. I'm for stoning.

Thou shalt not kill (but you are allowed to stone to death anyone who eats cockles and mussels, for they are an abomination.)
Likewise anyone who touches a menstruating woman; some nutter in the Bible says you have to stone them to death.
It sure as hell isn't God's word, unless your image of God is of a belligerent petty curtain-twitching old twazzock.

Killing is good and fun, just mention God, and all your sins are forgiven! It's in the Bible, btw. God frequently orders people to kill in his name, thus there is no reason why that can't be interpreted as the government can sentence people to death in God's name.
