Actually several people wrote parts of the Bible. Each book or epistle is from an author.....some who wrote more, others only one author...these books were compiled to become the Holy Bible. The problem could be that a man had a say in which could be used and which were never to be shown to anyone.....therefore, what is real?

40 men. The first few books were written by MOSES
Some of Jesus's 12 disciples also wrote books like PETER, and TIMOTHY.
Controversy: recently it is said that the book of Judas (the disciple that betrayed Jesus) was found, which is not one of the 40 authors in the Bible. His book contradicts the Bible, but it makes more sense. For example Judas explained that he did not sell Jesus for money, because he was already a rich man, but for Jealousy.

Several men were used by God over about 1500 years.
2 Peter 1:21
for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
Luke 1:70
As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from of old --
Acts 3:18
"But the things which God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.
I think that basically covers it.

God used men as his instruments to write the Bible. So God authored it, but men physically wrote it. The men were interpreting God's words into something people could understand. God bless.

God took 40 different men (it is possible that a woman MAY have wrote the book of Ruth, though it is unlikely for the time period) and inspired them to write down events concerning Israel, God, and Holiness. It took about 1600 years in total.
