It really wasn't or isn't about the question the person asked. I see some people don't catch on very well.

A blog I wrote on this subject. If you're interested in reading more of my writing (which tends to be about free thought) e-mail me and I'll shoot ya the link. This is called "The Untimely Demise of Existentialism":
Life is Freeform, not static. We're dynamic, always moving toward the brink of death. Always changing, evolving. We're molded by every event. Every event is molded by our past. Insignificant encounters lead to eternal relationships.
We live.
We die.
Life is death.
Death is escape.
There is no sadness in this, only fact. We're not forever. We're each a single grain in the infinite sands of time. When this first becomes apparent, it cuts deeply, causing our minds to bleed dreams that never come to be. These dreams breed art, and when people stop dreaming and become immersed in this corruption of what we once held dear, the art grows stagnant. And yet, we adapt. Because life is freeform, not static. We sacrifice who we are to become who they want us to be.
Most people give up worrying about what existence means when, for the first time, the reality of now combines with the fear of the future. Failure is a demon, creeping up on you, its glare unrelenting and vehemently strong. Failure shows us, with true, unbridled clarity that hell lives solely within the human conscience.
Hell lives through us.
Hell exists because we allow it to exist.
This fear spreads like wild flames. So, we give in. We quit asking questions. We quit caring why. We accept the pre-fabricated lifestyle. The white picket fence. The nine to five. The status quo. We quit caring how and let the expert opinion rule.
Philosophy is lost. Existentialism breathes its last breath as decadence paves the future...

It's all a matter of how the children are raised, methinks. If the parents truly believe in a god and an eternal afterlife in Heaven, then they are going to push that upon there children. They view it as the right thing to do.

She is right about one thing, she is honest when she says she lacks free thought. As for understanding willful ignorance in the modern age, how would technology change a person's will? Peace to you

An inability to come to logical conclusions (holy book = simple explanation)
Passed down from parents.
Ensnared during an emotionally weak period.
etc.
These are all reasons for people following mythologies.

here is one of the answers of that question:
actually Satan writes the wiccans script, since they serve Satan and make sacrificial offerings to him.
ya, that came from an intelligent being!
how can people make such completely unsubstantiated accusations about another group of people?
i don't go around accusing every single catholic priest of child molestation, but i would have much more evidence of that, than they have of wiccans sacrificing animals or babies!

No clue. Willful ignorance, I think. Especially if they live in a first world country where they should know better.

I believe there are many who do not use the information and technology that we have been given. Some (choose to) live in a cocoon.
