None of the above.
Yes you can add salt which lowers the temp "somewhat" but, the easiest way to prevent boilover is (can't believe no one said it) use a bigger pot. (oil will NOT prevent boilover.

Salt does the trick. It is dissolved by the water and because the NaCl is bonded to the water molecules it raises the boiling point.
You could also try not using so much water, but it depends on the pot size, 2/3 or 1/2 full should work... it's also dependent on the amount of noodles you need to cook....
Anyway give the salt a try.
Hope that helps!
God Bless!

Salt will lower the boiling temperature and the oil will stop it from sticking together. Either way it can still boil over if your water level is too high, the trick is to cook it with the lid off and usually a metal spoon left in will stop it from boiling over.

There are many ways:
1. Turn the heat down.
2. Add salt. It lowers the temperature.
3. Keep a wooden spoon in it.
4. Rub a stick of butter around the very top of the pan. It keeps the water from going over.
Hope that helps!

Remove the lid or keep it slightly open and turn the heat down once it comes to a boil!

Hi there
The way I stop noodles from boiling over is that I put a very small dab of butter or margarine.
I have a Aunt that even used some shortening but its your preference.
Let me know if that works

Add 1 TBSP oil or butter for each 2 qt water, this prevents foam from forming, thus preventing boil-overs.
