You can put a tablespoon of real pumpkin in it's food. Get the real pumpkin, not the pie filling. It can usually be found right beside the pie filling though.

I know this might sound really weird but if you give him some canned pumpkin it will help move his bowels. You can also sprinkle some Metamucil over his food. I have a Cocker Spaniel who has ongoing issues so every morning she gets a table spoon of Metamucil mixed in with some canned pumpkin which she LOVES! She usually goes poop an hour or so later. I don't know how big your dog is but for her (22 lbs) I use 3 tablespoons of pumpkin and 1 teaspoon of Metamucil. I hope this helps.

Usually, an otherwise healthy, constipated dog would pass his stool if he's fed a high fiber supplement (like pumpkin, as someone else suggested). If that doesn't work and your dog hasn't been able to pass in awhile, seek veterinary advice.

Some sound advice would be to contact your vet. Constipation could be due to a few factors. But rather than have us trying to diagnose your dog's problem, seek professional advice at your local veterinarian's office. Best wishes.

For a constipated dog, mix 2 to 4 tablespoons of mineral oil into their dog food. Thats all I know for know, I will let you know if I get any updates.

Take him to the vet. He may have eaten something quite harmful. Constipation could be the first sign of serious illness.

I would definitely take him to the vet particularly if he chews his toys or is an outdoor dog. He might have an intestinal blockage and is probably in pain.
