Wiccans and Pagans have very strice codes of conduct.

we do not get to write our own rules as you say.

"as it harm none do what ye will"

is probably the most famous Wiccan Quote, yet it is less than a tenth of the entire reede. however in these 8 words all of the laws of humanity can be summed up.

if it hurts somebody or something else it is wrong do not do it.

do not lie/cheat/steal/murder/do your neighbor's wife/or crap in his lawn. etc etc etc, .

furthermore many of are bound by stricter rules that these.

for example. as a traveler when i travel to another man's home while there i am to respect his way of life and his customs and his gods so long as they do not ask me to
cause harm to others.

i can accept no monetary gifts for religious services. i am here to serve not to become rich.

i must always offer assistence to anyone that i see in need and do whatever is reasonable to aid the person that needs it, even if that creates some hardship for myself.

(how many of you have given the coat off your back to a homeless person in the dead of winter, when you had nothing else to keep you warm and over 3 miles to walk to where you were going).

so how do we overcome violence, walk away if possible, fight like a lion if peacful resolution is out of the realm of possibility.

Jealoust, simple, just don't have it.

Anger, there are rituals to remove that type of negative emotion. and there are activities that help...like Paintball.

greed,,,simple cinvince yourself that you have everything that you will ever need, and wanting more becomes an annoying thought.

corruption...strict rules and adherence to my own moral beliefs.

selfish pride,,,why should i not be proud. my pride leads to confidence and my confidence helpe other people to be more cofident in themselves.

do i ever fail... of course i do. i fail a lot. and on a constant basis. but ebvery time i simply pick myself back up and trudge agead. because the only true failure is when you give up.

You are clearly not a free thinker, and just as clearly have no idea what Wicca is about. Wiccans follow the rede. An it harm none, do as you will. That does not mean Wiccans get to write thier own script. What goes around comes around. If you don't overcome the qualities you mention, and put them out there, they come back to you many times over. All humans fail, regardless of thier path.

Anyone of any faith can "write" their own script in life and overcome jealousy, anger, greed, corruption and selfish pride. It's all in what you strive to do. Of course, everyone fails for periods of time, as it is not easy. It is a life long struggle, but a goal that can be accomplished.

As a Buddhist Atheist, I know that I'm spiritually weak, true spirituality is becoming completely one with yourself. Complete understanding, control. I fail all the time, but I strive to better my understanding everyday. Only by understanding why we do the things we do, can we truly correct them.

violence, jealousy, anger, greed, corruption and selfish pride, I possess all these, it is the nature of humans. Again, understanding how these elements of the brain control us is the only way to control them.

I have seen your answers, you are not a free thinker, that is for sure.

Why do you consider any belief other than your hate filled Christianity to be "self-made empowerment"? Does that mean that without your bible you would be full of jealousy(like the biblical god), anger (again like your biblical god), greed, corruption, and selfish pride (again like you biblical god)?

Some people are blessed with common sense. We know right from wrong.

we are eclectic pagans. we study and practice: hermetic magick, buddhism, taoism, and wicca.

we live by a simple code: harm none do what you will.

everyone fails now and again. in our chosen paths, it is the recognition of this failing with out judging yourself harshly. more like, "wow, i really shouldn't have said or done that. i must try hard not to do it again." we do not act good and do good for any other reason but that it is a good or right choice. we do not do it for the promise of heaven or the fear of hell.

we believe that there are many paths to the same goal, and that people must go through many path choices if they need to to find the one that fits them. the path must lead to enlightenment.

we believe that even by not doing, you are doing. that with light comes dark and day with night. that things exist in cycles and opposites (one defines the other) so there will be many ups and downs. the point is to find the upside to the downside and so forth.

we perform rituals to honor the passing of the seasons and are very concious of the earth at all times. we honor the elements (air fire water earth) and the way they affect us.

we have been attacked many times for our beliefs and have to live without expressing them in our jobs ( i work at a right wing christian oriented bank filled with white people, which freaks me out sometimes considering i'm a left wing pagan oriented person who likes and loves people of all color) i am known for my calmness, kindness, happy go lucky attitude and often people say to me, "you are such a nice and good person". i hope that by my actions, i can slowly open their minds (not change them, that is their choice.)

i applaud any path, including christianity. islam and especially hinduism as it's not important to me Which path people choose. i only speak in a less than enlightened manner when they are crappy or intollerant to other's about their belief. it's most likely my biggest failing. but it really pisses me off, lol.

Yes. That is correct. We have to overcome all of those things. We have to do it without help from "God" but we also get to do it without temptation from Satan (at least this is what I believe). The beautiful thing, though... we get to take credit if we do good! And if we do badly, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Read Existentialism and Human Emotions by Jean-Paul Sartre., and Fear and Trembling by Soren Kierkegaard. Or look up Existentialism and read about it. It's a beautiful thing, being the master of your own destiny. It's a bit scary, though. I think that's why religion was created. Being responsible is not for everyone.

I've never been violent at all. I'm not a jealous person (which is a sign of insecurity). I am not greedy, (I'll share anything I have with anyone) nor do I have selfish pride, (I know my limitations and accept them) so none of that is a problem.

That's the entire point of it. You fail, you work out why then you take action to not fail in the same way. Of course it's not always easy but then if life was easy, what would be the point.
Anything worth achieving in this life takes effort and hard work, the rest is just window dressing.

This is an accurate description of FreeThought.

Freethought is a philosophical viewpoint that holds that beliefs should be formed on the basis of science and logical principles and not be comprised by authority, tradition, or any other dogma. The cognitive application of freethought is known as freethinking, and practitioners of freethought are known as freethinkers.
