In James 2:10,11, says, "For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles at just one point, is guilty of breaking them all. For the same God who has said, "you shall not commit adultery", also said, "you shall not murder" If you do not commit adultery, but you do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker", Rom6:23 "the wages of SIN is death" (Sin, is sin, is sin). Reguardless what we call it, the punishment is still the same. To say otherwise, to try and minimize one sin as greater than another, it only to justify sinning.
If you say hating someone in your heart, is not as bad as acting on those thoughts, to call it any less of a sin, than someone else, who committed murder, the Bible says, to do so, is to call God a liar! It is written, that he who hates his brother, is a murderer 1Pet3:15. Jesus said, that he who hates is brother, has committed murder in his heart. He also said, If any man, even so much as looks, at another woman, with lust in his heart, he has already committed adultery, in his heart.
As far as the death penalty goes, I fully agree with you. I am completely against it. God has said, "Thou shalt not kill" He also said, "Vengence is Mine, saith the Lord, I will repay"
Jesus Christ fulfilled the whole law on the cross. He paid the ULTIMATE death penalty for ALL!!! Who is man to judge a man's soul? Whose to say, that maybe that person might get saved? And his heart be changed and help others from making the same choices he did? Not to mention, all the times that an innocent person was put to death, because they resembled someone else, and an angry victim wanted justice, now! An the wrong person, is slain, basically, for what? So it looks good on paper, they can all go home, close the file, and not even blink twice!
That was the law, before Christ came, I don't think killing someone, who killed someone else, is the answer. you know, they used to hang people on a rope, by the neck, then they lined them up, blindfolded them, and shot them, point blank. Then they strapped them to a chair, blindfolded, and electicuted them. Now, they stick a needle in their arm, and inject a lethal poison, saying this is more humane. What really gets me upset, is people will actually sit and watch!! I'm just glad to hear someone else say they are against it, too.
Jesus said,"to love your enemies. To pray for them, to forgive them, to do good to them and to bless them, and curse them not! I have found no scriptures that approve of the death penalty. Though, I have had other believers, argue this subject, but they have yet to show me anywhere in the Bible, where this meets God's approval. Selah

I think the answers with bible verses answer your question. I am against the death penalty too, but I'd like to shed light on a larger issue of death that you may find helpful.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
What type of death is this talking about? I don't believe it's limited to a physical death, but is speaking about spiritual death. For example, when a person cheats on his/her spouse, the trust in the relationship dies, along with other dynamics the two once shared.
It is not good to view one sin as better or worse than another because they all kill in different ways. Instead, we should try to do as He commanded the adulteress without condemnation: "go and sin no more" (John 8:11). Once we are free from sin, we can have TRUE life, here on earth.

I don't think that the Bible says that all sin is the same. It does say that if anyone commits any sin they have broken all of them because they have broken the law and it is a unity. In Genesis 9:6, " who so sheds man's blood by men shall is blood be shed." That command to Noah and all his descendants after him was given to mankind 1000 years before the 10 commandments were given. The commandments in the law to put murderers to death was based upon that universal command given to Noah centuries before. The Bible very clearly supports the death penalty.

If you've read the posts here, you've seen many examples of what the Bible says about your questions. Bottom line ....... sin, any sin separates us from God. To be separated from God is Spiritual Death, and some believe physical death.
As for levels of sin, any and all sin gets the same results, spiritual separation from God or ........... hell. The only way to avoid that is to either not sin ...... or ask forgiveness and repent.

It does not say that. its does say that if you break just one law, then you are guilty of breaking all laws.
There is no verse that says that the death penalty is wrong. It does say that we should be subject to the law, and that the government is given the sword (for execution) for our good.

" 1 John 3:4 states: "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness." (ESV) This law refers to the statements (commonly called the Ten Commandments) in Exodus 20:1-17 that God demands of those that follow him. Another example of this is in Romans 6:23 where it says the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ our Lord. Both Eastern and Western Christians agree that sin serves as a barrier in one having a complete relationship with God. But in John 3:16 it states "For God so loved the world, he gave his one and only son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." This verse is the basis of Christianity. Salvation is not obtained through good works but faith alone accompanied by obedience to the law. Romans 3:30-31 states "There is one God who will Justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law." Christains believe that we all fall short of the glory of God by sinning but Jesus died for our sins; therefore, one can obtain salvation only through faith in Jesus Christ who was crucified and resurrected for all mankind.

Ok Bro. You asked.
Jam 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all.
Jam 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Jam 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Jam 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Rom 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Rom 13:5 Wherefore [ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
