Experienced this for many years now, the best thing to do is technically releive the stress in your own mind. You have to relax, and not tense up. The mental stress is causing the physical stress. The physical stress can be controlled somewhat by trying to figure out what is stressing you and dealing with it. For example do you clinch your teeth or tighten up your shoulders and neck muscles when your stressing, this was what I use to do, it took me a while to realize that I was doing this, I also use to grind my teeth. I became aware of what I was doing, and everytime I caught myself doing this I learned to relax those specific muscles, and overcame most of the physical stresses. I know you said you didn't want to hear not stress so bad, but I am not telling you to not stress so bad I am telling you how to tell the difference between the two, and how to cope with it instead. Other than that, I have had cortizone shots, which is not a good idea, they help but if you don't realize your physical tensions they will come back. Also massages, but not real deep massage, it makes it worse sometimes. The best is to pay attention to your body and notice what your doing wrong, and eventually in time you won't do that habit any longer.

Yes, I get incredible neck pains when under long term stress. I also get occasional heart palpatations. They key here is stress! If you can afford it, try massage therapy twice per week. It doesn't have to be focused on the neck. It's better if the therapist works the whole upper body, shoulders, spine and neck. If you are especially tender on the day of the massage, use your judgement and tell the therapist not to go too deeply. Perhaps, due to the harrassment, you need to speak to a psychotherapist or counsellor. It sounds like you are having difficulty processing your feelings and they are causing your body to tense up and cause pain. The stolen iPod was just the final straw, so to speak. Please speak to your doctor about this. The sooner you deal with your feelings and difficulties, the sooner you will begin to feel better. Nobody needs to feel THAT sort of pain. Life shouldn't hurt.

I wish I had this 2 years ago when I damaged my rotator cuff while showing off. This is very detailed and really gives you the techniques you need to sort out your own shoulder issues and a lot more info such as preventing further injuries. If you have a shoulder keeping you awake at night you'll know it's no laughing matter.

First of all, are you SURE it's from stress? It could be something wrong with your back? If i were you i would go see a good orthopedic doctor and get some x-rays or MRI's just to make sure. I have severe scoliosis and had to have 2 major surgeries and finally had to have my lumber (lower back) fused, this is a last resort. And that threw my whole body out of whack and since then had to have knee surgery and a total hip replacement. (That was on Jan. 11, 07) NOW my back is all messed up again and it goes on and one and on..................................i take Xanex for the stress which works well but it is very addicting so you have to be very careful. Like only take 1 a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck and go see the doc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do some bending and stretching while in a nice HOT shower. Turn your head side to side and back and forth. Shrug your shoulders up high as you can and then roll them back down. Do each stretch at least 10 time right and left. These will help with flexibility, and doing them in a nice hot shower will help relax the muscles. I guarantee you will feel better after.
