There was a man who lived in a 14 story building. He went to work everyday and pressed the button for the lobby in the elevator. When he came home everyday he pressed the 7th floor button and then climbed the stairs from the 7th floor to the 14th, unless somebody was in the elevator with him. Why didn't he ride the elevator up to his floor?

He was a midget and he could not reach the 14th floor button. He pressed the ground floor button to go down but he could only read the 7th floor button on his way back up. If someone was with him, they could press it.

The man in question was simply too short to press the button for the 14th floor.

He was also apparently either too cheap or too stupid to solve his problem by carrying some kind of tool to allow him to reach the button despite his stature.

At least he wasn't litigious enough to threaten a lawsuit against the building's owners if the buttons weren't lowered.

I don't know. But, why did you include the following: "He went to work everyday and pressed the button for the lobby in the elevator"? Is it useless information, or as my hunch tells me it has something to do with the correct answer.

i know this, only when we said it we said 40 stories and he pressed the 20th button. He was a midget and couldn't reach the 14th button to press it to make his way to his floor. If somebody was with him, they would have pressed the button for him.

Correct?

he was the elevator operator, thats why he presses buttons in the elevator, but it is company policy that he couldnt use the elevator for personal use, thats why he could only get off the 14 if someone gets off exactly when he gets off from work

he was a small person (a midgit but thats rude) and he couldnt reach the buttons higher the th 7th so he only could ride with someone else because he couldnt reach the top buttons so the other person pressed it for him.
