I got a "MPEG" video and tried to open it with Windows Media Player that couldn't open it. It says something like it does not have the right codec. However I have many codecs installed in my PC like DivX or XVid. How do I know which codec I need or if the file is really a MPEG?

Get a Program called GSpot.

Using Gspot you can open the video file ( FILE > OPEN, Browse to where the video is saved) and it will tell you what codec's the movie requires even if the codecs aren't installed.

You may need to change the FILES OF TYPE option to ALL FILES for it to work.

For a wide selection of codecs try.

Hope that helps
