I can hear a really high pitched kind of electrical sound when a tv is on and the sound is muted. Then when the tv is turned off I don't hear it anymore. No one else in my family can hear that high pitched noise. Also, when a door opens and it doesn't creak, I can't really describe it but I can hear it. When someone walks into the room I can hear them. (on carpet, you can't hear the footsteps)
Why is it I can hear these things that others can't??

You must have some sensitive hearing. Be careful because being that your hearing is so acute, it could back fire. Some high pitched noise could make you go deaf.

My case is different, my sense of smell is VERY acute. I can pick up any scent and no one will be able to smell it. No joke. I must have been a dog in my other life.

I can relate!

On the high side the average human ranges around 20 kHz. That's right on the cusp of ultrasound.
I've tested above 100 kHz and I bet you're there or better, too. We perceive into the ultrasound range.

I can hear bats -- really freaky when I'm camping.
Do you find those high pitched TV sounds annoying? They drive me nuts! The cause is a vibration from one of the components in the TV.

It's okay. You are hearing correctly. You have acute hearing, some can hear even better, some can smell better, still others can feel things that others can't. You can develop these senses, the smellers go into business at perfumeries, and tasters develop their sense of taste so they can work in the ice cream taste-testing stations. etc.

Go to work for the FBI. They can use a few of your kind;)

You just have very acute hearing. This can be a gift.

Most people can hear all those noises if they concentrate but you seem to be very observant.

You would do well as a CSI or a reporter.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! The same thing happens to me, and I think that I just have really good hearing. I hope nothing is wrong with us, but maybe we're just super awesome. The most likely explanation is really good hearing.

You have exceptional ear drums that are very sensitive.
If the voices tell you to do something just say no.
