My familys favorite is homemade popcorn. You put enough oil in the bottom of the pot to cover it and turn it on to het. Put your kernels in the oil and put a lid on it. When you begin to hear some pops, gently shake the pot to swirl the contents that are inside. Do this about every 10-15 seconds until popping has slowed and or finished. Contents are very hot when lifting the lid. Watch for any unmissed pops, flying at you while lifting the lid.

Microwave popcorn is OK in a pinch, but I like to pop mine on top of the stove.
Take a dutch oven and cover the bottom of the pan with a thin coating of vegetable oil. Place your kernels in (add about engough to make a single layer on the bottom of the pot, but not quite a full layer), cover the pot partially with a lid, and turn to medium. When you hear the oil start to sizzle, shake your pan back and forth gently to move the kernels about so they don't stick in one place and burn. Make sure you keep the lid on, but keep a small crack in it to let steam escape. Otherwise your popcorn will be chewy.
When the popping slows down to about 1 - 2 pops per second, remove the pot from the heat and set aside for about 30 seconds to let any last minute kernels keep popping.
Dump half of it into a large bowl. Pour about 2 tablespoons melted BUTTER (no substitutions on it) and give it a good dash or two of salt. Shake the bowl around and repeat the butter/salt procedure.
Open a can of Coke, sit back and put your feet up, pop in the DVD and enjoy!

Canola oil in a pot with a handle. High heat. Toss a kernal or two in and wait for them to pop. Then dump kernals in to about the top of the oil. Cover . . . Shake the pot in circular motions while on the burner.
Have something ready to dump the popcorn in to. Preferably something that is not plastic. Just like the microwave stuff listen until the popping slows . . . then dump, salt, and enjoy your movie, ma'am.

Get your popcorn seeds, put them into a paper bag, put them in the microwave and take them out when the popping has nearly stopped.

get a (blows warm air) maker - a lot safer! a hand ful or seeds could do a million or 2 parts, based how hungry you're! attempt heating a million tablespoon of oil in a deep saucepan, then including the corns- shake the pan (with a lid on!) to stop burning..

I like those Jiffy Pop contraptions that you use over a campfire, or if an open fire is not available you could make Jiffy Pop over the flame of a gas-stove.
