As has already been discussed adequately, science classifies humans as animals. What has not been mentioned is that United States law has also classified humans as animals. In 1874 to be exact. A charity worker in New York City heard about the plight of 10-year-old Mary Ellen, repeatedly beaten by her caretaker after being abandoned by her mother. When the worker arrives at the girl's house to save her, she finds the child chained to a bed, covered with bruises and scars and a cut on the left side of her forehead made when her "foster" mother sliced her with a pair of scissors. Because there are no laws to protect children from abuse, the worker persuades the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to intervene in court on the child's behalf. They did and she was thus saved.
Eight months later, in April 1875, the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is born.

Science classes humans as animals. I see the age old argument that we have intellect as a separation. Sometimes I am ashamed to belong to the human race. No animal or plant has done as much damage to its self and other species. Perhaps we were a mistake and God should have not listened to Noah and completed the job. Thank God for those who try to be good and advance the earths various life forms.

We are biologically animals. As a christian I believe we have spirits as well as souls(physical brains) and bodies. Some of the higher animals have some emotions which are similar to our own, but it tends to be joy etc about obvious things like good weather for them.
Us christians are born again, so we could be called
homo sapiens christi, everyone else is homo sapiens sapiens, although I suppose its just a biological classification.

All homo-sapians are animals. Not all animals are homo-sapians. If humans are not animals, what makes them otherwise? Are they not breathing? Do they not eat? Do we not bleed if cut or punctured? Do we not die (physical death)?
There are several living groups on earth. Plants and fungi. Bacteria and viruses. Animals. Which one are humans? I know, sometimes it's hard to tell with some people. Ha!
Animals fall into several categories. That is .... birds, fish, lizards/snakes/amphibians, and mammals (warm blooded, fur bearing). Let us not forget insects and arachnids.
Humans are indeed animals.

1. If you believe in God, any answer I give will be ignored.
2. If you have a brain, then all things on Earth are either plant, mineral, or animal - which category do you think humans fit into?

Of course we are. See just below... "Kingdom":
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Primates
Family: Hominidae
Genus: H0m0
Species: H. sapiens
Subspecies: H. sapiens sapiens
... This is pretty old and standard information that should be taught in school; perhaps you remember the non-scientific names: "animal" ... "vertebrate" ... "mammal" ... "primate".

Absolutely yes. We evolved from them same roots as the other animals, we have a classification just like the rest. We just have more developed brains. We developed them through the same process of natural selection that every other organism went through to acquire it's traits.

No, humans are humans. The difference is a major one, humans have a spirit that comes from the breath of God that was breathed into them at creation. That makes or gives them an eternal spirit which is vastly different from animals. As well, the Bible tells us that humans are "reasoning" beings, whereas animals are creatures of instinct. Those that don't recognize the eternal spirit in man would conclude that humans are animals.
