The iGrill was a great April Fools joke in 2003. I can't believe it's still around! lol
A grill is usually made of wire spaced 1/2" or less, and used to cook over an open fire. (It can be made of expanded steel, rod or bar stock, even fencing!)
A griddle has a solid bottom, usually flat and can have a light lip around the edges. Most ones made today are cast aluminum. The good old ones were cast iron, and can still be purchased from Lodge.
I've used griddles to make tortillas, pancakes, fry bacon, cook eggs, cook veggies, and so on.
I've used grills for just about everything that wouldn't fall through. Everything from my coffee pot, to steaks, or even to put my griddle on.

A grill, like on a gas grill or charcoal grill has spaces between the bars/cooking grids. Also, a grill may have a pattern in it, and is usually referred to as a 'cooking grid,' if I understand your question correctly.
A griddle is a flat surface with no spaces in it-like the bottom of a frying pan.
Let's put it this way: I would not cook pancakes on a grill, but I would on a griddle!

A griddle is a flat cooking surface, could be electric or a flat rectangle or round griddle pan--usually cast iron. A grill cooks food removed from the heat....makes grill marks. It can either be open grills, like a bbq or raised grills in a grill pan, also generally cast iron. Also, the foreman grill uses grill cooking from top and bottom with 2 sets of grilled surfaces.

think of a bbq grill--there are slats where the fat can drip through and usually whatever is cooked is flavored by flame--gas or charcoal. A griddle has a solid surface--for something like pancakes.
