I have modern furniture (mostly beige and pale woods) - and it feels too..."cold" or like its out of a magazine - not something that I feel warm and cozy in...Shoot sometimes I feel like I'm in a doctors waiting area....
Any ideas on how to pull that together, what elements I can use to make it feel more "homey"
Thanks a bunch

You can make it feel warm and cozy by adding more texture to your room. Try a throw in a complementary color, throw pillows and an area rug (even a small 4'x6'). If you have wall to wall carpet, just put it on top of the carpet and under a coffee table. If you have tile or wood floors, add a larger area rug. Adding texture (even visual texture such as a print or geometric) will add interest and warm up the area.

Try splashes of color or softness with round pillows to take a break from all the angles and maybe some throw blankets. Also try a soft, fuzzy area rug if you have wood/tile/laminate flooring. Good luck! Try to make the colors you choose bright but still matching. Oh, and I totally agree that the modern look can sometimes be a little too cold, hard, and angular! Good luck!

Sounds like you need some color.I am currently doing our living room and we have light colored furniture and installed beech flooring at a 45 degree angle(Pergo) and painted the walls a deep brick red. It's a large room with a glass slider in it and it feels very warm get some accessories to set it off( some curtains, rugs, pillows, candles, all these things will help pull it together, some lamps that dim can also make it feel warmer.
Just try different things and have fun with it.

You mentioned your furniture color but not your wall color. So the first thing I would do is pick a warm & earthy color for your walls and maybe even your ceiling. Then choose a splash of color to use in your accents; like an area rug you just love...then use some of it's colors for couch pillows, throws, vases, wall hangings etc. Just by adding a few touches of color will make a world of difference.
