Bipolar is a chemical disorder in the brain that causes swings between depression and mania. In the manic phase people fell they don't need help. In the depressive phase the can be angry, blaming, paranoid or withdrawn. Learn all you can. Don't take his mood swings personally or feel responsible for them. He must stay on medications daily no matter what. If the ones he's currently taking are not helping, there are alternatives.

Hi there!

I have Bipolar Disorder, and who knows what a man will do next, maybe I can shed light on the disease. When I get in a "down" cycle, I don't get sad, I get irritated and angry. Everythin anyone says cuts me like a horrible twisty knife. Sometimes I can't even answer the phone. After that comes absolute numb nothingness where even the best present would be spoiled because I couldn't care. During these times, I isolate myself to avoid hurting others. BUT I always tell my loved ones that this is what I'm doing. This way they know not to take it personally.

Your boyfried should have told you what was going on. Then you could respect it knowing that he needed to cope and it wasn't about anything you said or did. If you get back together, I'd mention this to him.

If he is seeing a doctor, maybe suggest to him that he might want to talk about his meds combination. If he is not seeing a doctor, DON'T GO BACK TO HIM UNTIL HE DOES. Like you say, BP is a disease and needs treatment. He could get worse and worse and where does that leave you? Having a disease isn't an excuse for injuring another person in body or mind. If he won't take care of himself, he is not taking care of you either.

My non-BiPolar boyfriend have been together 5 years, so it's possible to have a "mixed" relationship. On the other hand, couples can break up for the sole reason that the wind blew in from the west instead of the east. It may have nothing to do with his BP, and you may never no why, which totally sucks! Anyway, whatever the reason, it is him and his random issue and not you.

Whatever the outcome, I wish you joy and luck.

If you really love him, study about his mental condition so that you are better equipped to deal with it and to help him.
However, remember always the following 3 conditions to help someone:
1- The person must NEED the help
2- The person must WANT to be helped
3- You must be in condition to give the help needed.
With bipolar disorder the No 2 above is usually the obstacle.
Such condition sometimes leads a person to blame others only for his/her mental agony and to keep their distance from exactly those who love them the most.
It is very hard on everyone involved.
If he does not come back to you, you would be better off looking elsewhere for a more normal person. You will have a greater chance of happiness this way.
Don't blame yourself, EVER, for his condition OK? It is a serious mental problem, deserves our support, but it does not deserve our misplaced guilty feelings, right?
Good luck to you.

Eh... That is a intricate one. I used to be honestly misdiagnosed Bipolar, however then rediagnosed as BPD. Borderline Personality Disorder is a character disease, that develops inside your adolescence, relying for your emotional growth- it includes immoderate temper swings, and lots of persona position disorders that's largely impacted, and induced by way of the individuals you have interaction with. BPD could also be a debatable situation- many suppose that Borderline isn't truly. Because this can be a moderate, or now not wholly constructed disease of MPD- or Multiple Personality Disorder, on the grounds that you should not have modify egos.. Many medical professionals suppose those stipulations don't exist. Biploar Disorder is a chemical imbalance, that many suppose develops at delivery- it includes 3 levels- adding a degree degree, depressive degree, and manic degree.. BPD, and Bipolar each have the stigma of getting temper swings- however Bipolar mania is available in levels, as BPD mania is unpredictable, and is discovered by way of the legislation, or disorder of your emotional state. However, neither ailments are curable- handiest treatable by way of cure, and remedy. I could suppose BPD signs, in conjunction with Bipolar Disorder- equivalent to Black, and white pondering. Splitting/ disassociation comes at levels- and lots of immoderate, and impulsive urges, and behaviors are induced by way of the way you react emotionally with others. But it is vitally intricate, and problematic to pinpoint 2 intellectual issues that coexist with each and every different, after they each comprise identical signs. They just about compromise each and every different.. from the opinion of my psychologist, Biploar/ BPD are not able to most commonly coexist in combination- and being that Bipolar Disorder is probably the most more commonly misdiagnosed intellectual disease within the psychiatric subject, it would be incorrectly identified.. Many of the ones with BPD, have a moment intellectual ailment that coexists with being Borderline. Anxiety, and Depression are probably the most traditional. But Bipolar Disorder is solely as risky, and unpredictable as BPD. It would even be Depression/ BPD- even be certain to detect that Bipolar Disorder involves plenty of signs that mimic, or are very similar to many different intellectual issues, or visa versa. I could get the opinion of a 3rd general practitioner. It can take years to properly diagnose a character. I am now not pronouncing it's truly, it would simply be a false impression, or rough to monitor down, and fully grasp. Good success..

Yes. Unless you are prepared to take this all your life, you'd better go, as he says. I feel for you both. His family probably has others like this, as it runs in the family. If you are still interested, read up on it all you can. Talk to others that have family members with this disorder. It would be a life l-o-n-g challenge if it gets to that. Try putting two or three kids like that, in the mix!
Love him from a distance. Then move on. He has spoken.

Definately could have been an episode. When biopolar patients are in either their manic or depressive states, they often make decisions that they later regret. I'd say give him a week or two and maybe drop him an innocent email asking how he is doing. Chances are if his mood has changed he'll be open to talk.

Keep your chin up! If he loves you, he'll be back.
