Your parakeets are not gay. Parakeets are extremely social birds and in the wild (Australia) live in rather large flocks. Unlike many other kept pet birds, parakeets will readily accept another of their own species as a cage-mate, companion/friend or even as an until death mate. Somehow-parakeets know what each others gender is. (Makes sense though-we can tell our own now can't we?) They do not like to be alone and a baby will readily attach to any parakeet around since it is young and looking for comfort. Also-unlike many other kept birds-two males get along great. They will settle into behaviors typical of male and female parakeets but this is an agreed action they do this to get along and not to "be gay". Try to enjoy your birds for their own personalities and sometimes, a little research can go a long way.

I have four parakeets. ;)

Don't think like that! I don't know much about parakeets, but maybe it's just like dogs. It may be a competition of dominance. I used to think my dog was gay because him and other male dogs were.... well, you get the picture. It turns out they were all just trying to be the dominant dog. And you don't even kno if they're actually mating or not. They might just be friends trying to rule over each other.

You can't usually tell the sex of a budgie when it's very young, so the attention may be appropriate. On the other hand, birds of the same sex often become good buddies.
