first use the freshest eggs you can get. the fresher they are the firmer they are. Second you have to cook them over a lower heat. You are cooking all the way through one side so its going to take a while. last don't move the pan around, once you can verify that the eggs are not stuck to the bottom of the pan leave them alone then slide them on to a plate. and Scots what you are describing are basted eggs not sunny side up.

well I love sunny side up eggs. But I learned during hard times when I didn't have a pen i would get out the muffin pan. Spray inside of the muffin pan with Pam, carefully put egg in the cup and bake until desired doneness. It has always worked for me. Good Luck!!!

My mom used to fry an egg in bacon grease. As it was cooking she would splash the bacon grease on top of the egg to set it a little. Not my preference but my father loved them.

open your eggs and put them on a plate ...heat up the frying pan, put in half butter-half oil, let it sizzle a little, slide the eggs into the pan carefully, do them until half done and then cover them and steam them to finish ... but don't do them too long or they will be hard....
