Here is a very easy recipe from my son's pre-school teacher. Plus, it SMELLS GREAT! I usually double it. You can even mix different Kool-Aid flavors for other colors. It is super easy to make and lots of fun! It lasts for quite a long time.
KOOL-AID PLAYDOUGH
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 envelope KOOL-AID Unsweetened Soft Drink Mix, any flavor
1 cup water
1 tablepspoon cooking oil
1. Mix all ingredients in a medium frying pan.
2. Cook on medium heat 3 to 5 minutes or until mixture forms a ball in pan, stirring every now and then.
3. Cool slightly.
4. Place on floured surface; knead for 1 minute and you are ready to shape and mold.
5. Store in a zipper-style plastic bag or a plastic container.

This is my favorite no cook. I've done this as a craft with a group of kids. I put the dry ingredients in a zipper baggie ahead of time then let the kids pour the oil, water, and food color and I zip it and let them squish it around. Each child has his/her own bag of playdough with minimal mess.
NO - COOK PLAYDOUGH
1 c. water
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. salt
1/4 c. oil
Food coloring
Combine ingredients in bowl and mix. Add more flour if mixture is too sticky. Store in a plastic zip-lock bag.
But if I'm making just playdough for the kids to play with, this one keeps longer and is easier for the kids to work with. It's the one most preschool teachers use.
COOKED PLAYDOUGH
1 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. water
2 tbsp. oil
1 tsp. food coloring
Combine 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt and 2 teaspoons cream of tartar in a large saucepan. Gradually stir in 1 cup water mixed with 2 tablespoons oil and 1 teaspoon food coloring. Cook over medium to high heat, stirring constantly until a ball forms. Remove from heat, cool and knead until smooth on wax paper. Store in an airtight container. Children will enjoy playing with the playdough!
Here is a link with all kids of dough. It's fun for kids to play with the different textures.

3/4 cup Salt
1 cup flour
1 Tablespoon Veggie Oil
Water
Food Coloring
Combine dry ingredients together. Add the Food Coloring to the water. Slowly add water while mixing until it is the consistency that you want. Store in a airtight container or zip lock baggie. Can last up to a few weeks.
After it is made you can add more water if it is dry or add more salt and/or flour if it becomes to watery.

I have had the best results with cooked playdough. I won't repeat the recipes shown above. Throw it in a zip lock back and it lasts for months.
