Would that be easier than letting go of the promise of an afterlife where you are reunited with lost loved ones?

I know some people who will quote the bible all the time. One of them quoted a passage to me once, and I plainly asked, "so, what does that mean in your life. What do you take from that scripture?" I just got a dumfounded look from them like "why would you ask me that?".

I actually have never gotten an answer to that question. It is usually a conversation killer.

I don't see how the two questions are related what-so-ever.

Yes, I find it hard to memorize, not so much the passage but the chapter and verse. I can many times kind of know where to look for it but I can count on one hand the passages I know the exact chapter and verse of.

For the second part... well, I love God above all and know I will spend eternity with Him. My loved ones have their own decisions to make. I can only hope and pray and try to convince them so that we might be re-united. God does answer prayer.

I'm not sure I follow your reasoning here, but I've found that it's easiest to memorize from the King James Version of the Bible since it is the most lyrical and poetic. I have memorized from several different translations, however.

It's pretty easy to remember the ones you hear over and over and over again. And I really don't get where you're going with the afterlife part of this Q.

I have no problem memorizing scripture. It is living out what I memorize that is problematic.
Don't really get where you're going with the second part.

it isnt difficult, it just takes repetition
you need to review the passages about once a day for three weeks and they are locked in for life

Unfunny former-Jacobean-English-major answer:

In a technical sense, the KJV Bible has many mnemonics that make it easily remembered, especially anaphora (repetition of words at the beginning of lines) and epistrophe (repetition of words at the end of lines.) There is an abcedarian acrostic in Psalm 118 (Douay-Rheims).

Anaphora in the Beatitudes:
* Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,
* Blessed are the meek: for they shall posses the land.
* Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted.
* Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.
* Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
* Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.
* Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
* Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Anaphora and epistrophe in St. Paul's writings:
"Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I." (2 Cor. 11.)

The Bible itself is easily memorized; understanding it and living by it is what ought to really be important.

(And here come the negative stars by someone who likely hasn't read any of my previous posts and thinks I'm Christian! Yet again - A Bible is as valuable as any other book of faith for people who live in accordance with its more important teachings, and are good people. If you don't find any book to be morally helpful, that's fine too.)

No. Getting to know Scripture and applying it to my life is pretty easy to do.

Obedience is required, understanding is optional.

Why do you ask?

Please ask a Christian member of YA to show you the way of cutting and pasting bible passages. They seem to be quite good at it.
